Is The Last Story really that good?

Difficult question if you want my objective response.

The game suffers from some design mistakes. For instance, you can only play as the main character: no switching within your party members (But you can give them orders during combat). There's only one city; it feels alive, it feels vibrant, but it's just only one city. You grew tired of it after time. And, well, the game isn't that long; not as in conventionals JRPGs (I think you can clock around 30 hours). The last thing; it lacks challenge. There's only like four or five truly challenging battles during the game (and those battles are damn difficult!), but you will rarely die outside those.

Having mentioned the bad things, well, you have a pretty unique rpg/action gameplay model; you can take cover, cast spells, give orders, attack using your sword or bow and use a diverse arrange of skills you'll be unlocking throughout the game. The characters are pretty customizable, and the funny clothes you put them on appears on the cutscenes. Plus, bananas. You can throw bananas at people and watch them fall to the ground (and I mean, EVERY SINGLE character. Even the most serious ones). The soundtrack is awesome, as always. I wouldn't say it's better than Lost Odyssey's, but definitively enjoyable. Oh, and the story. Pretty moving. Pretty sad and shocking at moments. It has its wild twists. Definitively an awesome job on the story department.

This.

It's a great JRPG overall, and it's in my top 50 favorite games ever.

Basically the game is short, bland, and generic. However it's well done. The english voice actors just sound amazing, every character really feels like someone else, and the voice actors did a great job putting emotion into everything people say. There aren't many spells or different types of attacks you can do in the game, so it's simple, but it's well done.

Plus the story, while generic, is told well. The environments really feel beleivable, and well the short story is that this game is well done.

---

I like this game over XenoBlade Chronicles because of how polished it is. I mean how many other JRPG's offer a multiplayer mode? A fun one too. It's short and generic, but simple and sweet. Plus it's holding its value, so if you don't like it you can always sell it at cost.

I will save you some money Enchanted Arms is not worth buying even though the game is super cheap. If you don't own it yet buy Crackdown instead you can get it for even less then Enchanted Arms and its a better game that is actually worth owning and playing.

What's the problem with Enchanted Arms? I've heard it's a decent JRPG.

The game is playable, but it's kind of a waste of time. The plot is very generic, the game is pretty easy, and there is just nothing special about this game. I only beat it because I got it when there weren't many console JRPG's on the PS3/360, but now it's just not worth it.

Magna Carta 2 on the other hand, is actually pretty decent. It's nothing special, but it's simple, and a chill game to play over 30 hours or so. Plus if you care about achievements, it's an easy 1240/1240.

Infinite Undiscovery IMO is under-rated. It's a great JRPG, the only drawbacks are lip movements aren't really in-sync, but if you're a fan of poorly dubbed anime, you should be able to ignore this.

Project Sylpheed.....THIS IS GOOD. Really short (took me 5 hours to beat), but for that time it's an excellent game. Nice to see it on your list. My advice is to play this first since it's so short, but so good.

Ugh....your list. It's terrible. As a Gears of War fan, my advise is skip Judgement. Really, there is absolutly NO PLOT to the game, and a lot of things make no sense (They are putting Baird on Trial, punishment of death, and while the trial is going on soldiers are literally dying protecting the courthouse.....why bother putting people on trial if you have to sacrifice others to set up said trial?)

Also bump Mass Effect 2 & 3 up your list. How can you consider Enchanted Arms, but not play these games?

i have a list a mile long of games i would like to play. ..but once i buy a ps4 i'm not turning back regardless. so all i can do is prioritize the games i want to play most. some of my top contenders include:

dark souls 2
ni no kuni
tomb raider
last of us
beyond
puppeteer
ratchet and clank into the nexus
metal gear rising
XCOM
bioshock infinite
dead space 2

currently playing: red dead redemption, little big planet karting, rachet and clank up your arsenal, shadow of the colossus, uncharted 3, and jak and daxer collection. ...and some stuff on vita too.

...this, btw, is exactly why multi-console ownership is overrated. i'm already burdened with choices i don't need to drop even a dime on having even more choices. every once in a while i consider a wiiU and i have to remind myself i boxed up my wii and 360 because i just didn't have time or space for them.

You said it very well Enchanted Arms is very meh I almost got all the achievements for it but since I no longer got my original save file I'm not going to replay it just to get two more achievements especially since there are so many games that are a lot better in my backlog.  @ Wright I looked at your game collection and since you liked Tales of Vesperia I think you should also consider Eternal Sonata it is a lot better then Enchanted Arms and it has the same gourgeous cell shaded graphics.

Well I always go back and play through games when we hit a drought or before their successor comes out (just played through Heavy Rain to get pumped even more for Beyond) so I'll always go back. As far as ones I'll get on 7th gen systems that have been announced...

Beyond
Ratchet Nexus
Castlevania LoS2
Batman AO
Puppeteer
KH HD
(maybe) Rayman Legends

Most of which I'll get on BF (Ratchet, Puppeteer, KH HD, Batman)

Also 7th gen didn't end. 8th gen just began with WiiU. It's 2 different tracks. On one the 3 runners are still going and one just passed the other. The third one is still ahead but crawling towards the finish. On the other the one runner is slowly starting without the other 2 who are still driving there but almost there.

Judgment is now at 15 euros, so I have no problem with it.

Mass Effect 2 & 3...well, I'll think about it.

Eternal Sonata is at 40 euros at my local store. I won't put such amount of money into it.

Bioshock Infinite
ICO/Shadow of the colossus Collection
Dishonored GotY
Borderlands 2 GotY

Those are the sure ones, there are a few that will depend on price and convenience.

Get ready to buy Tales of Zestiria and KH 2.5 when they're announced :P

Just factoring in consoles:

For PS3:

Xillia 2
FF XIII
FF XIII-2
LR: FF XIII
Dark Souls 2
Nier
Atelier Escha & Logy
Star Ocean 4
MGS Legacy Collection
The Last of Us?
Yakuza games? (if Ishin comes out I'll definitely get that)
KH 1.5?
Ar No Surge?
Natural Doctrine?
Rebirth?
Drakengard 3?

May have missed a few or will consider some more.

Whenever Tales of Zestiria is announced it will be added, as well as KH 2.5 Remix, and Persona 5.

And for the Wii I still need to get The Last Story and maybe Pandora's Tower.

lol, omg, i'll wait and see where they end up and if they even get localized.

Yakuza Ishin I'll hopefully get on PS4 =P

Accidentally posted.. my bad.

Too many to remember them all, but to name a few:

+Super Mario Galaxy 2

+Donkey Kong Country

(shame on me for still not having them)

+Gears of War 3 (I want to know how it ends. Not interested in Judgement)

+Borderlands 2

+GTA V

And the list goes on, and on, and on...

Please excuse my bad English.
