Forums - Sony - Official Ratchet & Clank: Nexus thread. New reviews in second post! Launch Trailer!

The impression I got from the Edge review for why they didn't like it; it's for the fans, the Clank missions suck, a darker theme with less humor, and a short campaign.

None of those are in any way deal breakers for me. I'm a huge fan, so if the game's for me? Great! It's not like it would have sold systems anyway; the PS3 is ancient by this point.

The Clank missions suck? That's fine. Outside of ACiT (best puzzles ever), I never really cared much for Clank's gameplay. It wasn't ever bad, but not my favourite.

Darker theme? I'm pretty sure this won't be a bad thing. I've seen trailers and stuff that shows off some of that traditional R&C humor. That's good enough for me.

Short campaign? Yeah, but it's $30. Honestly, they could have reskinned ACiT and sold it for $100 and I'd still probably buy it. I'm a sucker.

Anyway, I got my email from Amazon today saying my order shipped, another one with my code, and the game should be here tomorrow. I'm so excited! ... but I'll have to wait to play it until after next Wednesday. Curse you, education!

Updated the second post as best I can :P

Hey everyone. It’s been an incredible seven years for us here at Insomniac on the PlayStation 3. And today celebrates that heritage with the release of our 10th game for the platform: Ratchet & Clank: Nexus.

The epilogue to our acclaimed Ratchet & Clank Future saga, this game is a love-letter to our fans. It gets back to the classic story-based Ratchet & Clank adventure, with brand new weapons, villain, planets, and an all-new story.

It’s a compact Ratchet adventure you can download via PSN or buy on Blu-ray disc for a great price of£19.99/€24.99. On top of that, all copies of the game come with an entitlement for a free download ofRatchet & Clank Future: Quest For Booty, so there’s even more value!

But don’t take my word for it. We’ve already gotten a ton of great reviews. Check out IGN and Destructoidfor their takes on the game.

And after all of that, if you’re still on the fence, perhaps this awesome launch trailer will give you a push over the edge, and sway you to have one more go with Ratchet on your PS3.

We’re really excited to close out Ratchet’s PS3 era with a game that we made for our fans. We hope you love it. Head on over to the Insomniac forumsTwitter or Facebook account, or to the game website to let us know what you think!

So there is a RYNO.

Having never played a R&C game before, would Into the the Nexus be a good start, or would I be completely lost or something? Also, I still don't understand how the game is so cheap! xD

I recommend starting with Tools of Destruction then A Crack in Time. Both amazing games and they're part of the same saga, but I assume you could start with this one and still enjoy.

I guess I'll be wierd and start with this one, then if I like it enough, go back and play the older ones. :L

You can start with this one, they give you a summary of the story at the start from what I've heard.

But I'd recommend playing all of the Future games (Tools of Destruction -> Quest for Booty -> A Crack in Time).  Not only because you'll understand the story better; but because they're genuinely fantastic games that it'd be a shame to miss out on.
