Yeah, probably. Not by much but it'll grow. Also, the gap is more like 930k but the point still stands.

I no longer feel like the PS3 will get near 100mil however. 90-95mil most likely. Which is still incredible considering the beginning of the gen.

with a year less on market and a ridiculous price at launch it truly is amazing to me that ps3 ended up where it did. i never understood why microsoft was so arrogant about their position in the video game industry. they made significant progress this gen and i have to give them respect for all they accomplished. ..but they never led the industry - as best they are tied. sony and the playstation brand deserve far more respect then microsoft gave them.

One thing i've noticed about you, is that while you're no troll, you're always very pessimistic about anything PlayStation and very optimistic when it comes to Nintendo. Not taking a dig at you, so don't think i'm attacking you or anything of the sort, but have you noticed that?

It's pretty much certain by now that the PS3 will surpass 100 million units and the Wii sales as well. Expect it to happen somewhere before the summer of 2016. 

i dunno.  100M doesn't seem that far off.  i mean, if sony continues their trend of selling to the developing markets for the next 10 years another 20M doesn't seem that far off.  they're on track to sell maybe 10M this year.  if they sell 6M next year they'll already be at 90M.  5 more years at ~2M and bam,. 100M.

I will be very curious how 2014 plays out for current (soon to be last) generation systems. Just from evaluating how Microsoft and Sony have supported their systems late and post new system launch in the past and seems to be developing now Sony's second place seems very safe into 2014 and beyond.

I'm interested to see what Microsoft will do with the 360 this holiday. Are they going to give it a great send-off Christmas with good bundles and their usual limited time only price cuts? Though you've got to figure interest in Kinect 1.0 will be nearly dead.

Damn if it's not going to be crowded market. 3DS, XO, and PS4 will all be hot, the Wii U should improve, and all the last gen consoles will still be popular with lower price points. Even the Wii will probably do well.

What games would they bundle with it that you can't get on the PS3?

A cheaper 360 during the holidays should still sell loads, right? I know PS3 still has some heavy hitters left, but isn't the holiday season when 360 sales kick into overdrive, in the US at least?

While the consoles are pretty much twins, the PS3 has a slight edge over the 360.

The lift the 360 gets is not enough to put it ahead of the PS3 though, just gets it closer.
