Wow, finally passed N64 sales like so many on here said it wouldn't. When is wii passing PS2 again? The same people also said that would happen.

I like my PS3 but let's not be delusional. It won't pass the Wii, and Beyond is hardly a system seller.

You must be a long time lurker to remember a thing like that? Yes people were dooming it to hell, while it was doing 80K, at the lowest, per month in the US, which is much better than what the WiiU has been doing for example.

The Wii was expected to sell 200 million and go one to shatter the PS2 record, same with the DS, both were not succesful in doing so as we now know.

Coming from a lone Sony customer (forget about the massess since you misinterpret me)   I think Sony failed to capture the top since they were dominating the gaming industry decade ago.

Yes, that's why they call themselves the underdogs now. They made a lot of mistakes during the transition for the PS2 to the PS3. Luckily from 2009 and onwards they have been correcting those mistakes one by one, something most gamers haven't missed as you see with the sales of the console and it's software.

The upcoming PS4 seems to be the result of a lesson learned the hard way haha. It wasn't good for Sony, but it sure has been great to us consumers. Which is why i belive the WiiU's succesor for example to be quite the console!

Then generation is ending. They probably feel it's not that important anymore. Nintendo has also been silence about the 100 million thing. It's probably get mentioned somewhere in a convention or show in the future, but it's ll be something vague like; Our Wii brand has proved succesful and we sold more than a 100 million Wii's around the world!! Like Sony did with the PS2, years after the fact :S

This would be the first time ps3 achieve a milestone(80 million first) before xbox 360.
