I think that the Vita will be discontinued on 2015. Reasons are many, but to make it short. It is a system that doesn't provide exclusive and unique content. It wouldn't sell well even if its price were $129.

That's a stupid idea. Why would Sony discountinue a console that is halfway through by then? If I recall correctly, the Vita's attach rate is so high thatt average Vita owners spend A LOT of money on the software available. So I'm convinced they're not selling the thing at a loss.

Disagree. I'm pretty confident that they lose money with every Vita, that's why they force people to buy their expensive memory cards. Also, all the games in the Vita sell very bad, less than a million, which is a very good reason for Third-Parties to stop making games for it since there is no profit in making a new game like CoD or AC.

It's an endless cycle. People don't buy the Vita because there are no AAA games. Third-Parties don't make games for the Vita because it won't sell well. Sony don't make AAA games for the Vita because they need to focus in the PS4.

Hell, even the PS4 is getting more AAA games this year and it's being released on November.

That's what you call a home console launch. -_-

Vita has games that are probably not announced yet. They are waiting until the right time I hope. I still see success for the Vita. No matter what you and other people say. :)

I never heard before that PS Vita is selling for Loss and the reason for memory card prices are becaues of its propritery format used for saving it from Piracy so it will cost them more to manufacture since Sony orders quantity are not like Standard SD cards which decide cost per unit.

And regarding sales, attach rate of Vita as far as i know is great and they are mostly Digital sales(which I'm also and other i knew are doing). And did Sony said that we won't make any AAA games on Vita? And I agree they are not making games on Vita right now because they are focused on PS4, but once PS4 is launched then they will focus back on Vita(and Vita TV they announced recently).

They foucus on PS4 more because that is what can Save Sony as a company from their bad position. So, focusing on handheld right now is pointless and if they do they might get some sales of Vita but that will disrupt PS4 launch and they will loss. So, just wait for next year and you will see more AAA games from Sony first party and also Vita has Cross buy/play/save feature for most of the indie games and some Playstation AAA games like we had for Vita/PS3.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

There have been some hints at GTA and especially inFamous on Vita. If you saw that Dualshockers interview with Nate Fox you will see how much he stuttered when the Vita was mentioned, it had me on the floor laughing with joy ^^^ I'll make a thread soon asking you guys about it.

I've never heard about a single GTA hint. Cool about the InFamous, I'll surely get it, but it's not a game that's gonna turn the fate of the platform. Vita needs exclusive GTA, GT, GoW, InFamous, CoD, FF, MGS, TES/Fallout, Witcher, Bioshock, new Naughty Dog and Santa Monica games - all released within a year. If it gets that - it's gonna be saved and easily competing with 3DS in the West.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

It doesn't provide exclusive content, Sony is the top in making more Exclusives in quantity with PS3 recently and  already they have made few for Vita with NEW IP's(unlike using old IP's because they want to give new experiences also) are Tearaway, Gravity rush, Soul sacrifice, Murasaki baby and more to come in 2014 from First party and the reason is because they want spotlight on PS4. Also Vita is great companion for PS4 and can Play almost all playstation games from Gaikai and in emulation. They promised to unleash more from PS vita(so they revelead PS vita TV) in future but not to discontinue in 2015

Yeah, you're right. All we have in 2014 is Murasaki Baby (which I couldn't care less), Gravity Rush 2, Freedom Wars, Invizimals: The Alliance and Soul Sacrifice Delta (which is an expansion of the previous one). And non of them are killer-apps.

With almost Zero Third-Party support all we are getting are 3 to 5 (maybe 6) games exclusive games. I'm sorry dude, I love my Vita, but no one will buy a Vita to play only a few games per year. The Vita is dead in the western market and a few Japanese games are not going to save it.

The only thing that can save the Vita is that it gets 8-10 AAA games next year, and all of them need to be killer-apps like God of War, a new Uncharted, Gran Turismo, a new Dissidia, Assassin's Creed, a decent Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc.

Nope, that ship has already sailed. it may be marginally profitable if sony keeps it in the market but there's little hope.

It will take a massive push from Sony. Unfortunately, Sony has redirected its efforts at the ps4. i don't think the Vita and ps4 will do any difference. It can be done - it depends how badly sony wants it

Vita is earning them money. Not enough to get the R&D money back anytime soon, but it is giving a slow and steady flow of cash. Considering the R&D money is already spent, it would be stupid to kill the platform instead of letting it earn what little money it earns.

Japan it will find success, not huge but OK. In the west it is game over.

I respect your opinion, but I still think that the Vita is dead.  Maybe you're right, but only time will show who was right.
