its an AMD thing and last time I checked, AMD was second rate to NVIDIA which is supported by the 'PC gaming master race'

Anyway, If it works, it means console gamers can play games on their average PC's like starcraft, mmo's, moba's and other exclusives, so its a bigger advantage for console gamers with average PC's than it is for the 'PC gaming master race' who can already play their games at a good level regardless of if mantle succeeds or not.

nVidia can support Mantle too, it's Open source don'cha know, it ain't limited to AMD.

All the pieces to support Mantle going forward are there, the consoles use it, AMD will use it and Developers have thrown their support behind it, all that's actually left is for nVidia to support it, which I assume they will, nVidia *dislikes* it immensly when it's behind it's competitors, they can bleed sales and thus cash flow if benchmarks look unfavorable, which is not a position any for-profit business likes to be in, especially one so competitive.

What it does mean is that, Hardware requirements will come down for PC games.
My PC? I would in theory be able to run every game at maximum, without question and on my current hardware for a stupidly long time. - Not that it matters I'll be upgrading soon anyway, I'm probably looking at around 20 Teraflops of GPU compute performance in total soon. :)

Go PS4. I don't think there are any advantages of going with PC.

I'm in this position and will buy both, though probably the ps4 first and PC's are about to get a massive hardware change.

I have already voted and said many things about the advantage of PC, but here are some other general arguments regarding high end rigs opposed to the PS4:

First, I myself bought a good notebook earlier this year which is capable of running the flawed PC version of GTA IV in 720 p, high details and 30 fps and many other titles in full HD (Darksiders in 1080p looks gorgeous btw). But it is not a high end machine. So, two things to consider in this matter: this is really not the time to buy a high end PC, since the ports are usually not optimized even if current PCs are more powerful than the two incoming consoles (I think mine is, CPU wise, better than those but not in the GPU department), giving the PS4 a good advantage in graphics at the start, especially compared to similar priced (about 600 bucks) PCs. If you intend to buy a killer machine, wait one or maybe two more years to see how much better the graphics cards will be since the leap is going to be HUGE now the old tech is not an issue anymore. But the second thing is: early console machines tend to be troublesome. AND the PS4 will only receive a fraction of the games supposed to come to PC the next year or two. So you have the risk of a buggy machine with fewer options to play.

So, my verdict: you already got a WiiU that will keep you busy with the exclusives. In this scenario I would buy a reasonably priced PC, play the heck out of it and in one, two or even three years decide between upgrading it or buying a PS4, which will be rocking, probably, by then and bugs free. Add to it the fact that you will become smarter by having to deal with PC stuff (drives, languages, etc.) and there ya go.

PC all the way. Itll cost less in the long run, can do things a PS4 can never do, and will have games that they can never play. Granted PS4 will have games too but most will be multi plat and inferior to what is possible with a quad core PC.
