The problem here is that people stop playing games and start paying for interactive movies. When I play a NIntendo games, I start playing immediately and the plot develop while advancing through the stages. Last month I finished Mass Effect 3, and I found 1 hour gameplay in the first 3 hours of the game. Kids developing their gamer skills in the last decade (2000-2010) have grown up with this kind of games, so they think this games are the highest bar to reach in terms of critics. Old people that were never into video games are reviewing games, they were called to he industry because of needs, and because the new games appeals to them like movies not games. When gamers try Nintendo games it is just pure gameplay, fun and joy. You feel happy, your imagination start open. The sequels of those modern games change in the plot but the gameplay is the same, what does that tell you? Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Donkey Kong have been changing all the way, the story, gameplay and characters.
I am not saying you have to like NIntendo games, but I am a 28 years old man, married with lots of responsibilities, and enjoy those games more than anything in the gaming industry. I have tried the PSP, my bro had the PS3, the XBOX has the same games as the PS3, and none have make me feel happy like I use my free time to rest and recover from all the bullshit this world throw at us during our lives. Check out youtube how many old grown gamers are playing Nintendo games? You should at least be asking yourself, why is that?

I'm a 29 years old and married with a lot of  reponsibilities too and i still enjoy playing some cinematic games from time to time even though my playing time have decreased significantly.  I don't know what's the problem with me but i don't enjoy playing nintendo games like it used to be in my childhood, the only nintendo game that i find huge enjoyment playing is mario kart and probably is because the game involved in competing with each other and i like to compete.  Maybe it's a matter a taste combine with the free time people can find to decide which game appeal more to each other.

There is no problem with that. There is a problem if the only thing you do is talk bad about Nintendo games, when they are really consistent delivering what video games is supposed to be.

So, you recommend to buy a console based on pure speculation?

Not on only pure speculation, but thanks for trying to exagerate the point.

Buying a console only on face value and not taking the future into account would be stupid.  Thats how you end up regretting purchases.

I take the future into account, I talk about announcement, not released games. But beyond that it all gets very unclear. There was a time, that Nintendo-fans clearly expected the next Final Fantasy will be on the next Nintendo-system. things do not always turn out as we expect them to do. Even relying on announced games is a bit risky. Look at The Last Guardian. Or not that drastic: look at the 'launch-window-games for WiiU': Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, WiiFitU - all were late. Nearly a year after launch is not launch-window. So our  expectation can be wrong, even on announced games. You want me to rely on future unannounced games?

Also, in other news SE, Sega, Capcom seeem to be shutting down their publishing arms in europe and america. I smell Gigaton soon:)

Because most people want to play something other than Mario and Sonic. The Wii U would make a great second console, but as a main one for gaming? Not hardly

I think most RATIONAL people would want to play AWSOME games. So they will buy Super Mario 3D World and Sonic Lost World, and no amount of message board anti-nintendo propaganda will help you and the likes of you.

Don't worry Incubi, the sales speak for themselves. While 20m-ish ppl will have bought GTAV, more than 34m have already chosen Super Mario Kart.

I don't think anyone can really say what video games are supposed to be anymore. The market is huge now and different people want different things from their games. The person that plays Heavy Rain may hate playing traditional video games based purely around the "play" aspect as they want interactive fiction. The Fifa gamer may just be a football fan who only plays football games that recreate the sport as accurately as possible. The Mincraft gamer may simply want to create virtual objects.

Video games are whatever consumers want them to be.

love how some people resorted to the same tired false PC argument. PS4 xbone are still gonna have exclusive games hell they are gonna have 3rd party games that WONT release on Wii U OR PC. (FF15 and KH3 to name two)

Nobody resorted to the false PC argument to challenge the exclusive games argument..........................................................................................................

The market needs to be bigger if its going to be sustainable.

Movies may make less but they reach a far wider audience, and tickets cost less than games.

Why pay 60 for a big budget shitty movie game?

Film industry also has multiple revenue streams.

PC's have exclusive games btw.
