Forums - Gaming - Hate to admit it but COD Ghost at 1080p 60fps is likely to look better than BF4 720p 60fps

Better textures at 720p will looks better than crap textures at 1080p. I think you are confusing resolution and textures OP.

This, people look at resolution as if it's the only thing that matters. a game can be 1080P but be very dated. It's about the whole package, textures, effects, etc........

Amen.

There's a reason devs end to sacrifice screen resolution for better materials, effects, textures, etc.

Usually a dev sacrifice screen resolution from 720p to sub 720p (small drop in resolution) for better graphic fidelity on console (unnecessary on PC).  Obviously BF4 will look much better on PC.  On console, let wait and see how the release looks like.  But like I said 720p and 1080p is a huge difference, and a PC gamer knows the difference.   I don't think console gamers know this because console gamers don't know what 1080p gaming is nor have seen 1080p gaming with their own eyes....(Wipeout PSN or Gran Turismo 5 don't count....)

Suddenly I see the point of your thread. That's a little distasteful tbh.

It's got nothing to do with console gamers "not knowing what 1080p looks like". It's that PC gamers play with their nose pressed against the screen, while console gamers sit back from it.

I play almost everything on PC, but unlike most PC gamers, I actually prefer 1st person shooters on consoles because I prefer to use controllers to play FPSs.   That's why I'm somewhat dismayed that BF4 may not look that good on the next gen consoles as promised.....

I personally haven't been able to notice a huge difference between 720p and 1080p. I can however notice that there is a difference though. Might be because I just built my own PC so I'm just starting to really play games in 1080p 60fps on max settings(not AA though). I'm not one that's really picky about res though.

How about BF4 720p 60fps vs Killzone shadow falls 1080p 60fps? That may not be even close......

But killzone isnt 60 fps... It can be 60 fps if there isnt anything going on... Which kind of defeats the point of having 60 fps...if you are doing any fighting, killzone will probably be closer to 30 fps than 60

late reply but w/e

call of duty does the exact same thing, only thing is that GG commented on drops, witch blew it out of proportion.

While the last 2 COD's sucked, I still prefer COD to Battlefield

Of all the big name shooters (COD, Halo, BF, KZ) I have the least amount of interest in BF. Though when Dice releases SW Battlefront, I am all in... even if it is a Star Wars skinned BF lol

I spent time on BF3PC and yeah I had fun. But BF pushes players into a playstyle that I find dull. just my opinion

I don't know how it looks on PC, but the BF4 beta on 360 looks fugly as all hell, like a first-gen game. COD games have been using the same recycled engine since 4 (which was one of the best looking games of 2007 btw), so it's not nearly as impressive because we've been so used to that style of graphics for the past 6 years.

But Ghosts at least looks like a step up from previous COD games on next gen, whereas BF4 looks exactly the same (and in some cases worse) than the previous installment.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

How can you NOT notice a BIG difference between 720p and 1080p on PC??!?!

Try changing your settings between 1920x1080 and 1280x720.   Is something wrong with your vision or is your monitor a true 1080p monitor?

No that's not exactly what I meant. I can definitely tell a difference between the two, but I have never dropped it to 720 then went to 1080 like you said so I'm not able to see a huge difference.  But, I'll try that sometime though and I'm sure I'll see a huge difference.
