What saved the PS3 was re-releasing it at a lower price, in other words the slim model.

But without the price cut and with  uc2,heavy and god of war it would not doing that good.

Many people believe one game can save a console but i don't believe that.

I don't believe in that too , but I also don't believe that price cut alone can save a platform. 

To be fair PS3 was never doing so bad as WiiU is and there was interest for the machine, but it costed $100 more than X360.

At the time there were many great games already out for it and many others to come like FF XIII,Fifa,MW2,GOW3,UC2 and GT5.

I checked the new figures for GTAV with the official trackers.

360 EU+US: 8.58m
PS3 EU+US: 7.71m

Big adjustments in PS3 version compared to 7.2m WW showed in this article. The numbers in the article was far wrong to begin with and I pointed that in the thread with PS3 version selling so bad.

Now we need to see the WW figures that I guess PS3 version will be close or even over 360 version becasue outside US and EU PS3 dominated .

Ill add to the debate on what saved PS3.

It was the introduction of the $299 pricetag combined with Slim, Uncharted 2 and simply brilliant advertising.

Then you add Demon's Souls, Modern Warfare 2, FIFA and the continued great support. It all went together perfectly and the PS3 finally started being what we all knew it should be.

I was going to say the same thing, its like they wanted it to fail. GTAV is like a black hole that sucked the life out of every other game in its path.

Games sell systems first and foremost. A pricecut can only do souch without games. A redesign can only do so much without games.

When you combine a pricecut with a redesign and a ton of great games, then youre onto a winner. It was the perfect combo.

How come the ps3 sold 178k in europe but fails to hit 100k in the US?
