Wii Play was pretty weak but Wii Party was heaps of fun. One of the best collection of mini games out there.

All the games are pre installed on these bundles.

Even the 360 is 11500 yen cheaper and has a huge library (yes, even in Japan). The PS4 is clearly on the horizon as well and will only cost 10000 yen more than this bundle. Bundling is obviously a cheaper way to "lower the price" than actually lowering the price and taking a loss on the hardware. Personally, along with a cheaper price and more games, I would like a really cool Japanese Wii U LE console. That might get me to buy one. |
so, 6500 yen is a lot but 10000 yen is little. ALL I can say is...
The correct thing to say is that wii u only costs a little more than ps3 while being a next gen console. if the previous gen library were an argument, no one would ever upgrade to the next gen. and ps4 will be a wooping 10000 yen more expensive while starting to build it's lineup from scratch. No contest as to wich is the better option in the near future.
that's a great bundle by the way. I don't remember if the japanese wii u deluxe had a game in the bundle. if yes, they're switching nintendoland for two games and a wiimote+ for only a little more in the price. if not, it's an extra 2 games + wiimote.
Could this mean they are preparing a pricecut in japan too?
I think the view of a lot of people is that the Wii U basically offers a current-gen experience (similar power and fewer games, but with Nintendo games in HD and the tablet controller).
Therefore, a similarly powered system with a larger, cheaper library of games for less money (the PS3) or a next-gen system with all that entails for a little bit more money (the PS4) are both tempting options (based on sales and presales).

the ps3 is not even close to being similarly powered to wii u, no matter how many times you or anyone repeat it.
the ps4 will be more expensive with less games. value favors the wii u side.
Nintendo slapped their faces months ago, now they are slapping ours enough as to think there is still hope for the Wii U to be better than the Wii on the sales side and software side, first and third party!

Nintendo going 100% casual again. Can't they see that the bubble has exploded? And they slightly raise the price on the top of that! Difficult times ahead...
One of the big problems I've had at work trying to sell this thing to people is trying to explain the controllers. People who already own the Wii are happy, but people who didn't get a bit intimidated by it all. Between the Pro Controller, the CC, the Wii Mote, the Nunchuck, and the Gamepad, it's all a bit confusing for people who are accustomed to simply buying a second controller. It's also tough to sell the idea of asymmetrical gameplay in a way that is relevant to the customer.
This bundle is a great idea that solves the problem. It comes with a game that features asymmetrical multiplayer and is easy to explain (it's like a board game which is a good jumping off point), it has the controllers you'll need to play the games inside and get started with that, it comes with a game that makes sense for the gamepad (it's easy to explain the purpose in the context of Karaoke), and it even comes with Mario.
Great bundle, and I'd like to see something similar in the US. The Karaoke thing wouldn't work here, so including like 14 day passes for Wii Sports U would be cool instead. Other than that, this is a mighty attractive bundle. Considering Wii Party U is going to be $50, they should be able to put this out for $350, or maybe even $330. That'd be pretty sweet.
