I think the view of a lot of people is that the Wii U basically offers a current-gen experience (similar power and fewer games, but with Nintendo games in HD and the tablet controller).

Therefore, a similarly powered system with a larger, cheaper library of games for less money (the PS3) or a next-gen system with all that entails for a little bit more money (the PS4) are both tempting options (based on sales and presales).
