Forums - Nintendo - The more I try the Wii U, the less appealing it becomes to me. What am I missing?

I like Wii U controller, it has the best of worlds regarding access to peripheral screens (like inventory) and providing the dual analogue game control that the first Wii lacked.

Whether it is justified from a cost point of view I don't know. It comprises a huge chunk of the price tag of the console. If Nintendo released a $150 version with a simple classic controller, I may have been swayed by the price (but then again, that would struggle to beat a $100 360 or PS3 for value).

So yeah, the controller is great, but probably not worth the cost. I think Nintendo took a huge gamble with it, and so far it hasn't paid off.

Don't know if anybody already pointed this out, but when playing Donkey Kong Crash Course in Nintendo Land you are supposed to be only looking at your gamepad.

Most people are waiting for a new Zelda, Super mario world and Smash bros to turn the Wii U around. Right now, it's just not as appealing as a PS4/xbone. Hell, the PS3 and 360 sounds more appealing right about now.

The Wii Mote is superior to the GamePad. That's the problem

The GamePad SHOULD have been a secondary alternate controller that you buy separately like the way Wii Fit was

I agree. The Gamepad feels like a giant step backwards compared to the Wii Remote. It feels like a solution in search of a problem.

I was a huge Wii Supporter. But the Wii U does not feel like a Wii Successor, it feels like a New Gamecube. I'm not enticed by a new Gamecube, and the games released thus far aren't appealing to the masses.

Also, all of the games releasing in the near future don't require the Gamepad, MK, DK, were demoed at E3 using Wii Mote's and nunchucks, so Richard is not alone. Not only am I not impressed by the Wii U, I feel like the Wii U is repellent to the mainstream gamer.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

You need to buy ZombiU, Lego City Undercover and Batman Arkham City. The best uses of the second screen by far.

your missing 8GB of GDDR5 memory and the power of the cloud.

It's "teh" cloud thank you very much.

OT: I see a lot of people agreeing with you. It's kind of amusing actually, the Wii's unique controller is what gained it so much success and the WiiU's seems to be actually driving some people away :/ I didn't mind the controller too much (it's fairly comfortable, if a tad heavy), but every time you have to use the touch screen it really takes you out of the game.

I played the ZombiU demo for about 15 minutes, after hours of downloading updates, before I just turned the system off, put it back in it's box, and havn't even taken it out since February. I know I'll get blasted for this, nut it's just not a good console, by any means.

That's like someone playing 15 minutes of Lair and declaring the PS3 is just not a good console.

Signature goes here!

I'm sure some people just make stuff up on here, you put all that money down for a wiiu just to put it back in it's box after playing once, come on, that's just a ridiculous thing to do.
I love the gamepad and use it a lot to play off screen and use for internet browsing and art academy etc.

There's nothing wrong. I look at other devices and don't appeal to me. Sometimes is the software, others the name, the company or the look.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Anyone who "puts it back in the box after 15 minutes of ZombiU", is clearly not going to like it. It takes time to adjust too, something demo stations ect. don't portray very well.
