Forums - Gaming - Rayman Legends ..... great game, great flop

To all you idiots whining that you'd have bought this if it wasn't delayed 6 months for other formats... get over yourselves! Your console is struggling as badly as Sega's Dreamcast was back in 99. That saw games no only ported to other systems, but the original version planned for Dreamcast canned entirely!

Ever heard of Max Payne? Yeah that was a Dreamcast game. Big hits like Black and White and Half Life were also meant to be coming to the console...

To be fair, it isn't the fault of the Wii U that this game struggles. the first week was indeed better for Legends then for Origins.

No, but all the entitled numpties saying they aren't buying it now because it was delayed (there are a lot of people saying that atm) really don't realise how much their "protest" is actually harming their system more than Ubisoft.

It's a great game, and it is a massive shame it's not selling better. Being bitter that they held it back to release on another system suggests they didn't really want to play the game that much at all.

Having been a huge Dreamcast fan back when I was reading about the cancellations for lots of games I was looking forward to (especially CastleVania!) it just baffles me that people would say "yeah, I'd have bought it in Feb, but now Ubisoft don't deserve my money". That's basically saying "don't release anymore software on my console".

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Delaying the game was a very bad move.

Releasing it on time would have made for less competition and a more high-profile release.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Beggars can't be choosers.

Well I did my part. My 4 year old is playing it off-tv right now. Best fun with the whole family since SMBU.
The game will sell great over the holiday. I'm glad they didn't wait any longer, but releasing a family oriented game just as school starts again makes no sense to me.

I'm playing the vita version and the rankings say there are more than 10k people that played this game only in the US

They should've kept it Wii U exclusive. If they did, it probably would've sold 100,000+ its opening week, which is more than it sold ported across all consoles.

I have to agree. It was literally the first big game for Wii U after the launch. It had no competition from Nintendo Games like Pikmin 3 or now WW HD. Lego City showed this. Almost 500 k for a 3.5 million suerbase.

pretty much this. What i dont get is if you only have a Wii U? what is the problem? Its not like their are amazing games that have been released year round for the system, not alot competing with in now to tell the truth. and if your a multiplat owner. Hell the other systems been getting games year round even back when it was supposed to release so it still didnt make much of a difference.

and lol to anyone who was calling this a big game. Being one of the few releases for a console doesnt make it a big game, it just show how dire a straits the library for WIi U was in.

Well, it's up to about 200k now. I think this will be a slow burner and hit about half a mil by Christmas. I wish we knew how much it was selling digitally though. We'll never know how much it sold on Steam or the PSN/Ninty store unless Ubi makes a statement.
