Forums - Gaming - Rayman Legends ..... great game, great flop

For me, had this come out on the WiiU when it was supposed to in February I would have purchased it on release day.

However, now its come out I have no interest, unlike all the other who whined about the delay though, its nothing to do with spite. Its simply been lost in the crowd.

I have just brought, Deadpool, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD, Dragon's Crown, Killzone Merc, FFXIV and of course GTAV. It left little deisre or reason for me to buy Rayman Legends and I have more appealing games (to me) to keep me occupied for months.

Back in February there wasnt alot due out when it 'should' have been released. Whether it would have sold better coming out then on WiiU only, rather than now as mulitplatform, who knows. But due to there greed we will never know. They delayed it and released it at a really bad time.

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

It still has not been explained to me why exactly this game should be considered a flop, outside of, "It didn't sell as well as I expected it to."

Which, of course, has been the metric for many a "flop" thread around here since I signed up.  Seems this is no different.

Fair enough. But sometimes we know (or can guess) enough about the developments costs of the game, or sometimes a sequel sells dramatically less than its predecessor, or sometimes the publisher comes right out and says the game sold below their expectations. Sometimes the publisher fires the developer who made the game and drops all support for it. These are signs that the game might be a flop.

Rayman Legends, on the other hand, is selling roughly as well as Origins sold, and that apparently sold well enough to merit funding a sequel.

Vita and PS3 leaderboards shouldn't be tied as the games are different (Vita ver plays like the Wii U version).

I think you misunderstood what I was going for with that post :P

The game is really creative and innovative but the controls are still floaty and not at 2D Mario Level.

Not every platformer is supposed to play like Mario.

I agree, but you hear the same thing about almost every platformer.  It's really sad that many people don't want to play a game for what it is, but rather just seem to want a copy of what they're used to.  You hear the same thing with FPS games that aren't the same as Halo or CoD.  "OMG, the controls aren't the same, I can't do this!"  One of my biggest pet peeves with gamers.

I bought Legends and enjoy it. The only thing I hate are the Murphy stages. Sorry, but Mario has everytime very good controls. I'm just used to it. I can play every Mario and wouldn't have a problem with them, they are always buttery smooth.

here is the pc version:

I'm going to call out the delay for this one. Is no one else noticing this? Or are we just "conveniently" forgetting about it?

that really doesnt mean anything, as alot of seqeuls get made simply because it is cheaper to use the same assests over again, especially this gen when dev costs went up so much.
