Both systems will pick up in sales this holiday season and hopefully not drop off as bad afterwards. I know the Wii U is about to pick up from its terrible sales streak.

I bought mine specifically for Persona 4 and have played a good few other games on it, but if not for P4 I wouldnt own one. I think of the WiiU the same way. There just has not been that game that make me buy the system yet, though there are some coming that will compel that purchase. |
There is the problem, of course. The Vita is pretty awesome and has some excellent games. It simply lacks a game that will make people take notice in large numbers. Outside God Eater, Sony was unable to find one for the PSP that could carry over and help the Vita, which was a failing on their part. They should have invested more in finding/buying games that appeal to kids, like Pokemon, or social games that appeal to females, like Animal Crossing.
Simply adding more quality games is great but unless they find a huge system seller, people will continue to believe that it "has no games," despite how ignorant that really is.

Well, at least they sold more than most consoles that have been released.
Well, both seem to be comrades in fail. Wii U will prob end up doing better then vita for in lifetime sales though.

Well, since vita didn't got a holiday sale at that point, this comparision will make sense in november, with the full year of each console. The problem is, in november nobody will care about this kind of comparasion. I wish a really crappy launch for smartphone in general so people can buy more game machines this year :D
"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Not really. It's a pretty well known fact that Europe leans towards Sony. Just look at PSP vs DS sales aligned.

Telling in the sense the Wii U is selling horrible over there...
Of course there are many reasons(such as brand loyalty) why the Wii U is selling worse, but it's sales are still dead.
On your point though, why would I look at PSP vs. DS? That's many years ago and also wouldn't tell the full story unless I cross referenced it with other regions. A better comparison is the 3DS vs. Vita in America and Europe. 3DS has 86% market share in Europe and 83% in America. That's such a small difference in the grand scheme of things.
