Yeah, I forgot how good it was. Now that I am playing it again and trying to Platinum it so it stays on my record, I gained a appreciation for it and Nintendo games.

There are so many epic wow moments in SotC, the HD version really makes it shine. I still haven't made it to the top of the tower, didn't know about it when I played the ps2 version, and they fixed the grip glitch in the HD version. I'll try again after my next playthrough.

I love running around the desolate open landscapes, no Fi, no phone, no peasants asking to run errands every 10 steps, no random meaningless battle interruptions. Simply explore, find the best views, towers to climb and gather some fruit and lizards on the way. Perfect downtime between epic battles that can last for half an hour.

I've just been senselessly mashing the attack button in the Diablo 3 demo for 2 hours, or at least it felt that long, wishing it would end or at least change up a bit. I guess I'll keep that money in my pocket and play SotC again :)

Hell yeah, its satisfying as hell to know I am going to platinum it.

Pray tell.....did you read what i wrote? If so, how did you come to the conclusion that I am happier to be around Nintendo now that Sony is the "king"?

While you may have seen the areas by wandering around, there are a lot of draw dropping areas that you go through on your way to each colossus, and just about all of the colossus except for one is a better experience than the first two.  The game might not be for you, but I think you should give it another chance and go from colossus to colossus without wandering around.


My inner hardcore gamer is "leveling down". Now I dont play challenging games. This weakness was first exposed at demons souls. :p :p

This is my favorite game of all time.

Japanese games (that aren't westernized) just get it right, there is magic in them that make you immersed in it, its not "Epic" its not "Brutal" its not "Mature" its just that they treat you the gamer as a mature person rather than a person who would like to kill billions of enemies to get achievements, and then buy the sequel.

I still have to borrow the HD collection from my friend. I've never played SoTC (I've seen it, though). But I doubt I'll like it as much as ICO.

 

If you want to have pure fun like you've described, STAGE (at least, what fits into your description), you should totally give a try to Dragon's Dogma. You won't be disappointed.

Ico and Sotc are one of the best games I ever played. I have the HD collection and I beat them but left the trophies for some day in the future so I could go back and replay them!

Just think of how on Dragon's Dogma where you climbed up the back of an Ogre, grabbed onto a Griffon as it flew off attacking it until it dove into the ground, or climbed the Hydra and cut off one of its heads.  That's Shadow of the Colossus on every single battle, just better, and no leveling up or getting an overpowered pawn to progress through certain quests or portions of the game required.
