I think it would be better for Nintendo to concentrate their time in improving their range First Party titles than bending over backwards to Third Party Developer like Sony/Microsoft have always done. A lot of Third party publishers will in all like hood have no choice but to support the Wii U in future to cover the cost of ever increasing gaming budgets and to leave their option open in case of their existing platforms choices failing.

While Third Party games selling only a few several thousand copies on the Wii U may seem not be worth it. But it doesn't cost that much to do a basic port compared to the cost of the actual game development. If released in the same time period as other console versions there would be little extra cost incured in advertising as you will just use existing payed advertising.

Using Ubisoft $ 1.3 million porting Wii U cost figure and the profit to publisher figure of $27 on each game sold using the Anatomy of a $60 video game piechart. You only talking about only selling 48,148 copies at full price to just break even on Wii U title. Which would be an easy figure for any decent Third party game to sell on the Wii U console and make a healhty profit compared to the intial investment required.

They dropped the ball with the Wii U, had it been launched successfully, they probably could have worked a deal to get GTAV but since it stumbled out the gate, the system isn't desirable to 3rd parties and after that the necessary work needed to port or produce Wii U software is something the 3rd parties are expecting Nintendo to pay THEM for instead of paying to release on their platform.

Deal is unworkable without Nintendo coming out the loser in payment, so no GTAV on Wii U.

I only buy one console every generation and its always a Nintendo system. I have always had to play GTA on other peoples home consoles. If Rockstar released GTA V on Wii U I would buy it, if they dont then they dont get my money its as simple as that. If they are going to shaft people who only own a Nintendo console then to hell with them they aint getting my money. It remains to be seen if they do release it, if Wii U can get Watch Dogs it can definitely get GTA V.

The problem is this: Nintendo thinks that people love Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Donkey Kong.
People could not care less for this.
What people loved was the inovation these games brought to the table back in the day.
- The worlds and plataforming of Mario were cool in the 80´s
- The adventure of little Link on Zelda was compelling.
- The mistery and atmosphere of Metroid
- the beautiful graphics of Donkey Kong.

That is why the WII sold so well, it was brand new, motion controllers and everything. Of course, in the end people got a little bored, but they got hooked first, and, in bussiness, that is quite enough sometimes.
Now Nintendo gives a DS game with HD graphics and call it a new Mario, put Luigi in the same game and call it a brand new release.
I know these games are obligatory, Nintendo HAS to make them because that is what made them back in the day.
So, as I see, Nintendo has 2 options: Be a kiddy console, for the children, or, change the pace, pretty fast.
I think, however, that most of us subestimate the appeal of the first option. If I had a kid, I would give him a WIIU with a bunch of kiddy games, and it is perfect, because none of his friends would have the console, so no one would loan him CALL OF DUTY or other violent games.
I don´t know what the future holds for Nintendo, but as I see it now, old school franchises will grant them nothing but a moderate success.

That said, GTA5 is not on the WiiU because rockstar would never release a half baked port like others devs do. And, the install base do not justify the work. Just that.

You can't speak for everybody, speak for yourself.  I love Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Donkey Kong.  I care for them games very much, and is why I never been caught without a Nintendo console.  A half baked port what?  If it's on current generation consoles it can be on the Wii U.  What you think is your opinion.

Ok, I am sorry, I guess I was a little rude.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

i guess they dropped the ball, but having it wouldnt benefit them that much and not having it is not hurting them that much. It is what it is.

As for bigger games? For Wii U? Nope. 3d world is not going to come close to GTA5 numbers. Mario Kart 8 isnt going to do the numbers that Wii did, not with that install base. Smash Bros. same, Brawl didnt beat out GTA4 so i have no reason to believe Wii U version will beat any version of GTA5. Matter of fact i think the 3ds version will take away some of its sales.

No GTA V on Wii U- Wii U is doomed
No GTA V on XBox One or PS4- No big deal.

Am I missing something here?

This article would have made more sense for Sony. Nintendo has its own franchises that sell the system. No one has ever bought a Nintendo system for GTA they buy it for Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Metroid and other popular Nintendo established brands.

Sony on the other hand has always thrived on having the best from everywhere. They make great first party games, and they have great third party support. Paying for GTAV to come to Vita would completely change the outlook of that system. GTA on Vita would sell at least 1 million units and I am not talking software here, GTA would sell 1 million units of hardware at least.

Sony dropped the ball badly allowing GTA IV to come to 360 and they are dropping it again not getting GTA on Vita.

One must first release a GTA on a Nintendo system to determine whether people would or wouldn't.
