Are there really even that many games that use the rear touch pad? This device is aimed at budget families and the Apple TV/Roku crowd, Sony probably has a ton of DS3 inventory they'd be happy to get rid of. Why not. |
Could someone explain to me why a family on a budget would get this over a PS3 16GB which will probably see a price drop in 2014 or 2015 when this thing is finally on the market in North America and Europe? Or what about families on a budget that already own a PS3, how would you sell this device to them if they didn't seem interested in Vita games and aren't planning on getting a PS4 for a few years?
Don't get me wrong I actually kind of like the idea behind this device it's just that not including a controller and memory card in the package really takes away from the $99 price. The key difference between this and competitors like Roku and Apple TV are the games and without the previously mentioned items packed in it will very likely just be an outclassed media player out of the box.
As for the DS3 it really just seems like it's adding to Vita's already huge list of problems as it splits the userbase in terms of the touch pad. Why didn't they just have the new Vita model come without a touch pad if they were planning on having this device?
I don't get it.. why did they name it "PSVITA" tv ? It makes you play every game of the PS Family, so why name it as a PsVita ?

It's still plays the same games and even has the same name. If 2DS counts in 3DS sales, then VITA.TV should count in Vita sales. |
If we are going by this reasoning we have a Vita that has a bunch of features stripped off ( no portability, no touch, no screen) but it plays largely the same content (some Vita games are confirmed will not work). If we are going by largely the same content playable to be the deciding factor then 3DS sales should be added to DS sales since the 3DS plays DS content and then some. ~190mil? Also, Wii U should be added to Wii sales since the Wii U plays Wii games and then some. ~105mil.?
Name doesn't seem to be a problem either, I mean people are complaining nonstop that Wii U and 3DS are too similar in name to their predecessors and that people confuse them for accessories or iterations.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

There are several PSP games I would love to play but I hate playing on a handheld. I'd get this just to play Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3. Though they'd look like shit on a big TV screen I don't care, I just want to play them.
I'd also quite like to check out the Monster Hunter games too maybe.

Keep in mind the TVita will maybe become able to stream PS3 games via gaikai.
Also, you'd be able to simply take the TVita with you, like... a hotel room and plug it in, access your ps4 at home. (i will need to call my girlfriend to swap discs hahaaa).
and seeing chandler trying to start an argument here is... not surprising.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:
WiiU: Donkey Kong
XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

yeah. it has a vita card slot
There's a list of compatible titles for it. It seems no Uncharted, Gravity Rush, or Wipeout, amongst others.

Surely it needs the best games to be a success?
