Just curious of anyone has ever downloaded this.

I am a god father of (1), so now I feel obligated to learn about the bible and the stories within. I agreed to assume the responsibilites to learn and teach my niece.

Anyways, has anyone ever used this app? I downloaded it on my iphone.

Just wondering how true it is to the actual bible.

Thanks a ton in advance and if you are of the non-belief PLEASE do not post in this thread. I too am mainly a non-believer, but since I agreed top becoming a god father I want to take full responsibility and make the attempt to at least learn the stories of the bible.

I feel asleep last night listening to it (They dramatize the hell out of it, it's great actually!), but it actually has some good stories. I no doubt will listen to it all.

Never heard of this app.

Never heard of it either. I would spend most of your time on the New Testament, and primarily the gospel. That's pretty much Christianity 101.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I was expecting this to be another typical thread asking why do people believe in the bible etc...

Could someone with knowledge of the bible please give this a listen? I listened up to genesis 14 and would like to know how true this holds to the legitimate bible.

Thanks.

Honestly, I thought the samething.

Ahhh.

Max McLean reads the ESV Bible!

That is the 2nd most accurate English translation of the Bible you will get. The NASB is slightly more accurate (in a direct Hebrew and Greek to Enligsh way), but the ESV is fantastic. It is what I use for reading daily - it places a lot of emphasis on direct and accurate translate, with only a slight amount of help on intent of translation.

If you want to know what the Bible says, that is what you want. Max Lucado is arguably the best Christian orator, and does readings of many popular Bible versions (ESV probably being the best he does - that app you have).

But do remember that the Bible is very contextual. The Old Testament is the story of God dealing with the Hebrew people, and really doesn't have a lot of bearing on modern day Christian practices. The New Testament is where Christianity draws the vast majority of influence, building on the Old Testament. So please take that into understanding when reading the Old Testament.

Otherwise, if you were going to read the Bible, what you're listening to is pretty much the best adaptation you're going to get of the Bible. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are wrong, as the ESV is pretty much the scholarly go-to for a phenomenal English translation (I've been big on the ESV since switching from the NIV, as the people that created the ESV distribute it free of charge).

The dramatization of the reading is still word-for-word. There is nothing remotely inaccurate about what you're listening to. I hope you enjoy it, as their version is amazing between the readers and music.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Can you tell me why Iron Chariots > God?

(not an atheist thing. Supposedly it's in the old testament somewhere, though it's been widely cited by atheists to lampoon the abrahamic god). Wondering if you can't catch it when you zoom through.

Thank you very much. What you said is what I was hoping to hear since I am actually enjoying listening to it.

All it is, is a very accurate and literal translation of the Bible set with different narrarators, music, and sound effects. Its very good to listen to if you've never read the Bible before. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. The OT is a mixture of stories, commandments, and songs. The New Testament is mostly Christian history and theology that is what shapes Christianity.. So always keep that in mind. But for better or worse, it is what it is - a very good adaptation of a literal-translation Bible.
