That is the 2nd most accurate English translation of the Bible you will get. The NASB is slightly more accurate (in a direct Hebrew and Greek to Enligsh way), but the ESV is fantastic. It is what I use for reading daily - it places a lot of emphasis on direct and accurate translate, with only a slight amount of help on intent of translation.

If you want to know what the Bible says, that is what you want. Max Lucado is arguably the best Christian orator, and does readings of many popular Bible versions (ESV probably being the best he does - that app you have).

But do remember that the Bible is very contextual. The Old Testament is the story of God dealing with the Hebrew people, and really doesn't have a lot of bearing on modern day Christian practices. The New Testament is where Christianity draws the vast majority of influence, building on the Old Testament. So please take that into understanding when reading the Old Testament.

Otherwise, if you were going to read the Bible, what you're listening to is pretty much the best adaptation you're going to get of the Bible. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are wrong, as the ESV is pretty much the scholarly go-to for a phenomenal English translation (I've been big on the ESV since switching from the NIV, as the people that created the ESV distribute it free of charge).

The dramatization of the reading is still word-for-word. There is nothing remotely inaccurate about what you're listening to. I hope you enjoy it, as their version is amazing between the readers and music.
