Forums - General - The Batman relevance argument.

Batman is so damn annoying. I like batman, but I hate him because of how bad his fans are.

Also I hate how other characters get treated when Batman gets involved. They all get dumbed down and nerfed huge. They go from a single punch nearly KO'ing superman to just making batman fly backwards a bit. They go from being supergeniuses to being outsmarted by whatever batman thinks up. They go from taking superman's punches to getting blasted super far away by a gadget of batmans.

It's just annoying how writers don't seem to be able to keep characters intact when dealing with Batman. Basically any batman comic/movie/ect any villian that isn't a Batman only villian you can hardly recognize. THey dont' act, think, are weaker, ect than you know them from their ORIGINAL comics.

Lets not forget that when facing batman everyone all of a sudden looses all their will or whatever you want to call it.  They could knock batman down and near death a 1000 times in their fight where batman BARELY can even walk or get up.  But if Batman knocks you down you will NEVER EVER EVER get up.  You lose and lose the will to fight or get up again. Regardless if in another comic you got up ove rand over and over again to continue fighting.

Batman is essentially a giant troll.

DC's better, though. They have the icons. Aside from Spider-Man, Marvel doesn't really have anybody that everybody knows, regardless of age. Wolverine, Iron Man, and Captain America just can't compete with the history of Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, and Flash.

Marvel makes better movies but DC makes better comics, cartoons, games (thanks solely to Batman's Arkham games but still..), and toys.

I'm pretty sure the three Iron Man movies + The Avengers pushed Iron Man into the "everybody knows him" category, not to mention the others.

Aside from Batman and Superman, Wolverine is bigger than anyone else DC can muster. How many of DC's A-listers can claim they were being put front and center of comic book issues they didn't even appear in, along with a legal disclaimer?

This is not an argument of who is better though.

Batman's superpower is physically, mentally and psychologically nerfing everyone around him in a five mile radius. I hate it when people say he's "normal" or "just a human." There is nothing normal about that man.

The moral of the story, S.T.A.G.E., is to never get into an argument or debate with people who only watch the Hollywood movies. They don't know jack crap about what's canon and what's not, and the one who'll win is the won who scored best at the box office.

Boom, I said it.

Hey guys, I made some brownies.  Who wants....oh.  Fuck.  Now they're fighting again!  Who started this?  Did somebody say one was better than the other!?

Superman VS Hulk sounds like a fun fight to watch. Probably more entertaining than any that I see.

That's actually what happened.  That pic is from the Marvel vs. DC crossover in the 90's.

Superman vs. Hulk (Supes won)

Batman vs. Captain America (Bats won)

Lobo vs. Wolverine (Wolverine won)

Wonder Woman vs. Storm (Storm won)

Ben Reilly/Spider-Man vs Conner Kent/Superboy (Spidey won)

So Marvel won that one.

Hmm superman won huh.  How come there is still a shit ton of arguing over Hulk vs. Superman and more often than not I hear people say Hulk would win?

Heck I swear I saw a youtube video not too long ago showing the fight between them and probably had a tie or something

You sure about that? i've seen so many people say they mostly read Marvel comics and the only DC comic they read is Batman.

Alot of people like that Marvel's Universe is more down-to-earth compared to DC's God-filled Universe.

Really, on any given day, both companies suck but then they pull out an occasional amazing story.  Some characters are consistently good, though. Marvel started that "down-to-earth" trend with Spider-Man but then DC copied.  Now both companies have a pretty good balance of myth (Cap is a legendary soldier, Batman's more myth than man, Superman/Thor/Wonder Woman are gods, etc.).

It was  a personal preference.  I grew up on Avengers but I became a DC fan in the 90's and never looked back.  I used to read a pretty good balance of both before the hobby got too expensive.

Yeah, I don't get it.  I guess it's because Doomsday killed Superman with his bare hands.  That was just poor writing, though.  Even Wizard magazine did the comparison back when they were still around.  They decided that, even if Hulk was stronger, he just couldn't match Superman because Superman is super strong plus super speedy, heat vision, super breath, x-ray vision, etc.  Just too much to overcome.

Well Superman's base strength is higher than everyone in Marvel.  Most of Marvel's heroes are generally weaker in comparison.  Thing is, unless they changed it, Hulk technically has infinite strength since its based on his anger.

Agreed. During the "World War Hulk" story, Hulk's rage was so great that he was potentially able to split the earth in half.  Still, Superman could just fly in at super-speed, grab the ground Hulk stands on, and toss him into space before Hulk even knows what's happening.
