You stated the obvious, but this is a thread talking about the Vita. Who said anything about the Wii U? Let's try to keep focus on the OP's question.

Pretty shitty, but if it can keep up the growth in NA/EU and sustain it, that would be nice P: As has been said a million times, all the Vita needs is games. The handheld itself is absolutely incredible (i really think the Vita itself is the best handheld ever made), but it's ultimately a gaming handheld, so without the games, there is little point in it.
Once the games arrive, the sales will too. If the games ever do arrive :P

The point is the neither the Vita nor the WiiU are dead. It's sarcasm. Also I didn't realize you were the thread police? Or perhaps the ginormous creepy Reggie face in your signature is why you took it the way you took it?
I think the diifference between the Wii U situation and the Vita situation is lineup.
According to Gamefaqs, which admittedly sticks to retail titles with certain dates, the Vita has 9 games coming between now and December in North America. The Wii U has 26, nearly thrice as many. And that's just the immediate future. The Vita has no Mario Kart 8 or Super Smash Bros 4 over the horizon.
At this point, the Vita's best bet is to actually become the 3DS's cheaper alternative for the hardcore. Basically, for only $30 than a 3DS, you get a system with a bunch of indie games and PS Plus.
Comparing Sony's first two handheld systems.
Sales for the first week of September, for each corresponding year except where noted.
PSP
2006: 109,896 units
2007: 120,530 units
2008: 164,560 units
2009: 121,386 units
2010: 117,439 units
2011: 108,713 units
2012: 52,912 units
2013: 36,543 units (Aug 31 total)
PS Vita
2012: 82,706 units
2013: 33,459 units (Aug 31 total)
The PS vita has been consistantly selling between 20,000 and 40,000 units per week. It obviously needs to sell more.
The Japanese market no longer has Monster Hunter, infact that franchise has defected over to the 3DS and is one of the many reasons the 3DS is doing better over there. The Vita needs to give the Japanese market a reason to care again.
PS Vita still needs a few more system sellers. Killzone Mercenary is a start, but it needs to release more great First Person Shooters, atleast 3 a year(Dual analog sticks is what sets the Vita apart). It needs GTA vita. It needs Bioshock Vita. It needs a title with an amazing story, top notch gameplay and innovation that can only be found on the PS vita. That'll spark the interest of the gamer community and casual community as a whole.
Personally, I'd love to see a few more ports. Borderlands 2 looks great, glad I havent played it yet.
Dishonored Vita would be amazing.

There will be cell phones and tablets that are considerably more powerful than Vita by then. It's really not that future proof. It wouldn't stun me if by 2015 Nintendo is announcing their next-gen portable to boot. By 2015 there will be nothing all that impressive about its hardware at all.
