Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: We Don't See Anything Better than Ryse, Forza 5 on Competing Platforms

You guys are arguing about launch games, jeez.

It appears to me that MS had started making games on the Xbox way before Sony on the PS4. These games will look like crap a year from now.

The best games coming out this November belongs to the PS3.

at please stop with the wait til after launch games and next year when ps4 games will blow xb1 games away, just stop posting and lets all wait and see.why is it that the first people to post in microsoft threads are mostly the opposition....hmmmm why?

Sorry Microsoft, but the only thing selling the Xbone is Titanfall and its not even coming out at launch. Can't blame them for bullshitting, neither they nor Nintendo should say otherwise.

Titanfall seems to have a systemselling style to it, that´s why it´s so good that it  coming six months into the consoles life.

Its COD with mechs. It could sell any console that has a fanbase that loves shooters. It's addictive pick up and play gaming.

Unless they redid the whole lighting system in the past few months, it's pre baked.

I love these kind of things, people actually spending time drawing these lines like a true conspiracy theorist :).

I looked around on youtube for clips containg these images, but couldn´t find them. I did, however, find a clip from Forza 5, taken outside of the car and with a lot of potential imagery to draw these lines in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwJ28jorf6s

Does it actually look prebaked to you?

EDIT:

Found them, and they are prerendered screens in the game, just look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXJMOZxQtwk 0:41 to 0:47 :).

Found the pic on neogaf way back during the first xbox event. It went along with a pic of COD showing it also was pre baked. Don't know where the pics came from, I just used them to point out that the lights are pre baked.

As for your question, DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT PRE BAKED LIGHTING IS NOT NECESSARILY A BAD THING? You can get great results with it and based off the talent at Turn10, that's very possible with pre baking it. The downside of pre-baking is that accuracy mistakes are more likely, hence these pictures.

Thanks for that video. Strange that that the first one is still being used in the game code even though the shadows are obviously off. Now I feel the need to re-watch the Xbox reveal to see what else that screen shot was used for.

As for the second image, did you even watch the video you posted? The image isn't anywhere in sight! The closest thing to that image is during gameplay when the driver goes past the same area...

Look at that pre-baked railing shadow again ;)

Unless you want to prove the final game will have a different lighting engine than this build, Forza 5 has pre-baked shadows. Case closed.

Gameplay > visuals but fortunately Forza 5 looks better than any other launch game imho, especially considering Killzone MP is pretty weak with little shelf life and it's the only area that runs 60fps.

Ryse is pretty hit or miss but almost all of the SP footage looks fantastic.

Dead Rising 3 new demos have stable frame rate, game actually looks great with the scale and amount of shit on screen at once.

Yeah of course there is nothing better than Ryse or Forza 5. I think they could end up surprising us, 95 metacritic for both. Also Titanfall wasn't mentioned! That game will do 99 on metacritic for sure.
