Forums - Microsoft - Why MS is keeping Kinect and didn't sell it for $350 - $400

Again...can I play some of these wildly revolutionary Move games? Or is it all magical potential no one cares to utilize? If so then your words are useless. Move on.

Haha love the rick grimes pic, even though the show is massively overrated and even poor at times.

It is laughable people say Kinect makes the entertainment expereince vastly better. Voice is more of a hindrance and an annoyance to me, I know many cannot stand voice activated anything. it is a gimmick nothing more. Same thing with gaming. When I am sitting home watching a show, how does kinect enhance anything? It doesn't.

Ms is betting too much on it and are going to lose.

Even nintendo has abandoned the motion fad.

I stopped reading when I got to the bolded.  Mostly because that was the end of your post, but still...

The Wii U controller, aside from the touch screen, is a motion controller!  It's demonstrated with Nintendo Land and my last purchase, Game and Wario.  Motion is a big part of the experience.  Not only that, the have Wii U branded Wii remotes, now.  You can still use the Wii remote for the screen, and other games like NSMB U use Wii Remotes as player 2, etc.  Nintendo abandoned nothing!

Sorry, they are no loner making games geared around it, and the sales of wii and wii-u now speak for themself. It's a gimmick and a fad.

You stopped reading when you got to the bloded? Well it was the last sentence lol.

Kinect is not just motion, its motion and voice. Kinect is the next step in interfaces. I didn't get it for games. I got it for media use, and it has revolutionized it. Phones are using more and more voice control, some are even adding motion control too. Gesture interface is very similar to touch(which I honestly dont use, as I dont like touch interfaces etheir), which everyone is getting more adapted to since smart phones and tablets use it. Have you had the pleasure of using a kinect to watch media? With kinect 2 basically removing my need for 3-4 remotes i use on a daily basis I cant help but be excited. I dont know if you have heard of the open living room kitchen concept, but if you have and like to cook and watch tv, or do things around the house and watch tv, or simply be freed from your remote, kinect is a must.

it can't have Wii appeal. Wii was the cheapest console, Xbox One is the most expensive.

Kinect sports was great and yes it did lack in the hardcore department but families love Kinect. it's a great way to entertain more then just you and your friend. 25 million in the short time period it was out was massive. For a add on that is a total success. So I love that you hate on the product but downplaying to say it adds nothing, is not true at all. Nintendo still has wii controllers. You have no clue what your talking about. It's called the "WII U!" all other controllers are motion controllers. So it is very much a part of the system. you must not own it, I do.

WiiU pro controller says hi

In short, they know the Kinect 2.0 wont sell if its sold separately.

That is just garbage. Kinect is around 25 million in sales, MS have the knowledge, experience and resources to back that up and sell Kinect 2 just as well.

God knows how it got to 25 million. The amount of noticeable games on it was abysmal, same goes for the PS Move. I'm sure MS were doing the Scrooge McDuck money pool dive while the people who bought a Kinect wondered what the fuck they could do with it after a week....tops.

kinect is my most used feature of my xbox 360. I am getting the xbox one solely because no other companie in the world right now offers what it does with voice controls. Its going to make my entertainment watching even more enjoyable than kinect 1 did. I cant wait. when the kinect 2 gets released for pc, I will get it for that too. The closest thing to kinect right now are tvs with voice(which only work for your tv, not all the entertainment apps that xbox has, nor my cable box, and cost a lot more). I would hope some company could compete with MS in this area so the xbox one would be cheaper, but no has stepped up to the plate yet.

Alright, fair enough. This is a market for Kinect, but you have to at least admit that Kinect was not handled well as far as its implementation with games. For all the install base they grabbed, they really did not do much with device it self. Albeit, things like controlling the dashboard and commands on different games are cool, they aren't revolutionizing anything anytime soon.

Yes lets add a 100 dollar kiect to use instead of out remote or voice commands..............Only proves my point.  Voice is not always accurate and worse then GASP, having to push a button. Gimmick is a gimmick.

You don't even need Kinect for voice.

My words are not useless if I am showing you proof and you refuse to accept it. You are beyond help, thats the ONLY conclusion.

You are showing absolutely nothing but ignorance and bias.

Thats what the R&D video is for. The people who created the product within Sony R&D know what the product can do and have proven it. Whatever third party or first party games are created are up to the creators not R&D. You're putting the cart before the horse.

Again, can you play Halo 4 with the Kinect? No, if you did it would be on rails. People even use the Move for multiplayer because the camera/motion tracker ball 1:1. Some like it better than the actual controller and I know people who do. I personally thought Socom was badass with the Move. Sports Champions has far more potential than Kinect Sports.

I am finished. To even have the respect to give you links is going way more out of my way than I should with the likes of you. Do not even respond, because I will not be reading. You are not worth it in the slightest.

Maybe kinect is just not for you. Some people like the freedome to do a couple things at once, like use their hands for cooking, or some other task, and not button mashing. Some people also dont like to use 3-4 remotes just to watch a tv show, when they can simply ask kinect to do it for them. To each their own. We aren't all so soley focused on keeping a controller in our hands when not needed. If you can't see the use in that dont buy an xbox one.

They still have wii controlelrs so they are right behine motion? The wii abrely sells and neither is the wii-u, and nintendo has not done anything in several years game wise for their motion controllers.

Tehy saw the writing on the wall and sales stagnate. It's a gimmick and a fad. Kinect is even worse, only MS advertising made it sell, it will never work for gaming.

Thats funny in the other thread you just told me advertising doesn't work. Which is it?
