It's hard for me to unconditionally support Nintendo when this is what they come up with. I love Nintendo but man seriously.

What's the problem?

I know this handheld is going to sell millions and when Nintendo profits goes through the roof. Vita's price cut will mean nothing now.

I'm amazed to see this kind of rationale from you. 3D... what do you need to be able to navigate in 3D worlds? A manual camera... for wich you need a second analog. 3D games need a second analog. Its that simple.

You don't need a manual camera to navigate in 3D worlds. It's just a matter of design and games like Super Mario 3D Land and Luigi's Mansion 2 prove that.

Also, it's not like the 3DS is going to get many games that actually demand full manual camera control. There is Monster Hunter and virtually nothing else, and even that works with touchscreen controls for the camera. Complex 3D games aren't in high demand on handhelds anyway, so there's really not much of a point in adding a second Circle Pad. Aside from a tiny minority, nobody is going to miss it.

Just cause a few can manage an exception doesnt mean the rule isnt true. The touchscreen controls are helpful but very unprecise and unresponsive.

I think we get less free roaming 3D titles exactly because theres no second analog nub in the system.

To me this looks like an experiment.

I can see the suits at Nintendo:

"Hey. Lets make the ugliest piece of shit handheld ever conceived. Something that makes the monstrosity that is Nvidia Shield look like the sleekest piece of portable hardware ever. Lets do that and see if we can outsell Nvidia's offering. Just for shits and giggles.

wats the problem? its not targeted for you. Its optional. Its like your favorite car company having a sports car, then they make a mini van for families. Does that sound terrible to you? Cuz it doesn't fit your preference? of course not.

Im convinced DS will be discontinued when this fiscal year is over, there is no point in it now that there is a $129 model for 3DS. Same goes for Wii, Nintendo doesnt want these systems stealing sales from there new products.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

If the last bit were true, then the Vita should get plenty of free roaming 3D titles. It's not going to happen though. Since there is a lack of demand and such games are more expensive to develop, there simply isn't much incentive for developers and publishers to tackle such projects.

The Vita does get more than the 3DS. Gravity Rush, Assassins creed, Soul sacrifice, Ragnarok odyssey, Persona 4 golden in dungeons, Shinobido 2, Dynasty warriors next, etc.

I'm sure theres demand because Assassins creed sold above 600k.

I think the 2DS is significant though in that it forshadows the next Nintendo handheld, which IMO will be a tablet like form factor with the ability to play 3DS games and even have Wii U ports unified on one console with an HD resolution (single) display. Possibly with the ability to wirelessly beam a video signal to the television. Hence the recent unification of Nintendo's handheld and console dev teams.

no 3D for a lower price seems fair but a lack of clam shell design makes it an instant fail to me. that is the most unportable portable device i've ever seen...

You own a Vita which has sticks... sticking out.

which are low profile.  vita fits in my pocket just fine even if it protrutes out the top a bit.  2DS would require a purse...
