You don't need a manual camera to navigate in 3D worlds. It's just a matter of design and games like Super Mario 3D Land and Luigi's Mansion 2 prove that. Also, it's not like the 3DS is going to get many games that actually demand full manual camera control. Just cause a few can manage an exception doesnt mean the rule isnt true. The touchscreen controls are helpful but very unprecise and unresponsive.
I think we get less free roaming 3D titles exactly because theres no second analog nub in the system.
