10m during the holiday period would be just insane. I don't see it happening tbh. 4-5m sales maybe and 5.5-6m shipments.

There are another news in Digtimes about a late December launch for Asia and Japan but it is only for paid subscribers

If think if they release in all regions this year the shipments can be close to 10 million... remember that what you ship in December is to be sold until in January/February.

No, it's ludicrus. Neither of them are shipping close to 10m this holiday Ethomaz. PS3 never even managed 15m in an entire year.

I unfortunately second this. Both's numbers seem way off even for the end of fiscal year, not to mention calendar.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Comparison for last launch: Sony was estimated to ship 2 million consoles, but only ended up shipping 500k.

Microsoft estimated 10 million 360s for their first fiscal year, but later lowered their forecast to 5.5 million.

How accurate are MS´s predictions usually? Better or worse than Nintendo or Sony?

They don't predict, or at least they don't publish their predictions. So...worse

Didn´t they say at the beginning of this current generation, that 1 billion people would take part in the XB0X 360-experience? That is some prediction ;): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=838-J8LFYAw, you can hear it at 11.06 :)

I think he means gaming overall, and it likely did that and more. "reached" doesn't mean sold.

What console Sony estimated 2 million? PS3 shipped 1.7 million in US + Japan in first month/year.

I know, just remembered how I thought it hilarious at the time and actually interpreted them in a way that they would reach 1 Billion people with the 360 :). Their forecast, seen as a whole, is quite correct though.

If true, that's the fiscal year. No doubt about that.

That's until June 30, 2014.

Honestly i wasnt even expecting 4 million shipped.

Neither was I. 7 million is asking for trouble anyway.

im calling bullshit. 10 million PS4's? 6.2 million xbox ones? bull shit

Fiscal year or calendar? If calendar year that seems outrageously high, considering that they are already sold out at many places.

Things like this tend to be fiscal. Nintendo projected 5.5

10 million doesn't seem far-fetched with 1m+ preorders.

They want enough shipped so they have enough stock and make it 3 months until the next shipment. XBO seems in line with this thinking as well.
