Forums - Microsoft - [RUMOR] Microsoft Lowers Xbox One Shipment Forecast For 2013

I'm sorry but those numbers are in the realm of fantasy. 10 million would make it twice as high as the best launch of all time. Even 6.2 million puts it well above the greatest launches in history.

10 million doesn't seem far-fetched with 1m+ preorders.

They want enough shipped so they have enough stock and make it 3 months until the next shipment. XBO seems in line with this thinking as well.

My feeling as well. Besides, I read, somewhere, that Sony was planning to shiop quite a bit of units, far more than 6 million by the end the FY.

10 mi is impossible even if they started production last month, Sony would have to be assenbling 2mi unities a month to match the 10mi figure.

I don´t think that even teh Wii ever shipped 2mi a month or sold  10mi in one quarter.

6mi is more realistic, but is still a very high number for Sony or Microsoft.

However it´s feaseble that Microsoft could came up with a 2bi marketing budget and swallow the PS4 internet good will train.

That would be the dumbest thing they could ever do since it only add to the ~5 billion dollars of debt the Xbox division still has to pay off.  And if it fails?  2 Billion more in the hole and a canceled successer...

It's not about the launch or 2013 only. This is from launch till 30 June 2014, on both accounts.

Microsoft categorically denied the rumor.

"That report is incorrect. We have not lowered shipping volumes, and are actually seeing better than expected yields from our silicon," Albert Penello, a Microsoft senior director of product management and planning, said in a statement sent to PCMag.

"We just returned from Gamescom where we showed the overwhelming majority of content on Xbox One near-final hardware. We also just rolled out a widespread employee beta and remain on track for a November launch this year," Penello added.

Meanwhile, Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia said Tuesday that even if the rumor were true, it wouldn't matter much in the short term. The analyst said Microsoft is only expected to sell approximately 3 million Xbox Ones this year, so having fewer than 7 million units assembled and ready to ship will be a "non-issue."

"If Microsoft can ship 6.2 million units of Xbox One, as reports indicate, it would still be significantly above current estimates," Bhatia said in a research note.

They still shipping more than I expected! how about they offload some of them to some of countries missing out at launch.

3 million is below The Wii U as of June 31st  (3.61 million *SHIPPED* World Wide). So looks like if we're talking XB1+PS4 sales this year will beat WIi U? For sure, both. But one console alone won't pass the Wii U unless  the PS4 is really going to double XB1 sales.

It's just that simple.

I'm actually referring to the whole first fiscal year.   10 million is almost twice as high as the best first fiscal year ever.

You think after two consoles they would know how to build something without running into problems constantly. I'm waiting now to get the Xbox One just in case we see another huge hardware failure rate. On good news though 6.2 million for only 13 markets in 2013 is still pretty solid. (Yes I know shipped doesn't equal sales)

You are aware this has always happened. To every console. If I remember correctly the PS1 had the worst yield in launch history. Yields not failiure rate to consumer.

That is more than possible worldwide.
