Forums - Microsoft - [RUMOR] Microsoft Lowers Xbox One Shipment Forecast For 2013

August 27, 2013

Xbox One shipment forecast for 2013, says paper -->

Microsoft has recently lowered its Xbox One shipment forecast for 2013 from seven million units originally to 6.2 million due to poor yield rates of the device's camera module, optical disc drive (ODD) and related assembly, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report citing market watchers.

Related upstream suppliers such as Global Unichip, Nuvoton Technology and Newmax, are expected to be impacted by the lower shipments, the report added.

Honestly i wasnt even expecting 4 million shipped.

You think after two consoles they would know how to build something without running into problems constantly. I'm waiting now to get the Xbox One just in case we see another huge hardware failure rate. On good news though 6.2 million for only 13 markets in 2013 is still pretty solid. (Yes I know shipped doesn't equal sales)

How accurate are MS´s predictions usually? Better or worse than Nintendo or Sony?

That number doesnt make sense, as Jaywood says, most people were expecting 1 million consoles made a month (each from Sony and MS), which would equate to 4-5 Million max.

Surprised if they are making/shipping that many to be honest.

Fiscal year or calendar? If calendar year that seems outrageously high, considering that they are already sold out at many places.

That was my first thought too Fiscal or Calendar?

If it's calendar, that would be a lot of consoles.

If it's fiscal, they are going to be in trouble if they have any hope to keep pace with Sony.

Calendar its till the end of 2013 and fiscal is to march right?
