Forums - Gaming - Do you like FFX's new remastered soundtrack

There's the old one on dolphin, I like it though. FFX is like my 6th or 7th favorite soundtrack though so I'm not attached to it. I'm sure theres tracks that will be worse and tracks that will be better.

The one I'm more interested to hear is is Yunas theme, because while the melody was good I found its midi instrument a bit grating.

I'll be fine with it as long as To Zanarkand doesn't get (noticeably) touched, that and Suteki da ne. Those 2 are songs I'd listen to constantly(and have been lately). Otherwise, there isn't much that I remember that I cared about.

I doubt those two songs are going to be changed, because Zanarkand is played with a real Piano, and Suteki Da Ne is released as a single

the songs that were probably changed are the ones using MIDI, I think the most one that I would not like is Auron's theme, since the MIDI is what makes that song special and makes it a bit new wave-ish.

It's growing on me

But it doesn't really affect me, I still hum it wrong....

Some of these comments have to be jokes? They're not remixing anything, just re-recording them with new tech and not losing quality to the incredible amount of compression the PS2 required. This is what the song is supposed to sound like......

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Sounds good...now all I need is the release date.

the original songs are MIDI and Digitized instruments so they're not compressed in any way, FFXI and FFXII used orchestral music while they were on PS2.

One of the reasons why people think FFX was the last FF with great soundtrack because it was the last one that used MIDI music by Nobou, the guy is great in MIDI , however when he moved to real instruments that signature touch kind of faded away.

this is what Seymour battle music sounded like in game.

I like it, actually o:

The guitar plays the same line with a synth. It was just a midi-synth in the original. I'm not sure if I would have preferred it left out.

However, I think it sounds a lot better as a whole. Seymor's theme, won't necessarily sound like the black mages versions, it depends which instruments they use and how they're played (Dynamics, ETC). The black mages are also a bit abrasive (lol).

There are going to be arguments regardless. If they didn't do anything people would complain they were lazy. i guess they could include every version of the soundtrack, that would be unprecedented as far as I'm aware.

For FFVII's PC mods there's arguments all the time on which collection is the best one (Aside from the actual PC Version which is deemed craptacular by all), the PSX version, the Soundtrack Version OGG Looped, Ones with Better instruments FFtim, and ones that are taken from Orchestral Renditions, or a mix that varies from person to person.

They're not doing the Black Mages version. It's entirely different. If you think that midi is a good container for audio, I don't think we can have much of a discussion.

Also remember that Uematsu only did about 1/3 of the game's OST. The other two people still do a lot of work for Square.

I don't like it but I'm heavily blinded by nostalgia
