The only thing that will beat the controller is virtual reality.

Even as a little kid, in the early 90s when people kept talking about VR as if it was, without a doubt, going to be THE FUTURE of video games (Oprah even had a whole episode about it), I never thought it sounded cool or appealing.

You need to watch sword art online

depends, if Nintendo releases it, people will complain that they don't want this and want traditional gaming. if Sony releases it, people will praise them and say Nintendo is stuck in the past

exactly, just like the gamepad. it proved to be such a revolutionary method for gaming but people rejected it because it has nintendo written on it.

That's a weak response.  The console hasn't been out for a year yet.

and how much time did it take for people to be convinced the PS2 or Wii for exmaple?

people rejected the gamepad?.. LOL.. the problem isnt the gamepad its the lack of games.. try harder.

Nintendo tested this type of brainwave technology back in the 90's to play Tetris. Turns out we can't manipulate our brain wave patterns fast enough to make it a viable input method.

or it could be that the technology wasn't up to par yet to analyze our brain waves fast or accurate enough for it to be meaningful, much like how the 3DS is to the Virtual Boy. It's quiet exciting as technology improves and we are able to tap more and more into the potential.

No, it was a people problem, not technical.   Reading a brain wave is fairly simplistic from a technical standpoint (EEG has been around for nearly 100 years).  Training the brain to alter internal frequencies on the fly is not so simple and much more difficult when trying to actually play a fast paced game like Tetris.

Watch the TED demonstration on this product and then imagine trying to play Tetris with it.  It takes Evan 40 seconds just to perfom a single action (disappear).

I'm not knocking the product itself or the incredible possibilities it opens up.  Only that we've tried games before and we simply are not trained for that kind of activity.

Well of course.  It's not something we are used to doing.

It takes a while to learn any new skill.  Given time with the device people may become quite good at it.

It would be really interesting to try.  If anyone get's this, invite me over when you get it, please.  (I might bring a tasty pie.)

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!

Sony at least was working on something like this. Plus have "emotion" feed back. But considering how devices like to fail in high rates for any of the newer gen consoles, I really don't want something like this straped onto me.

Well there are just two original games that use the darn thing in a interesting manner in the opening launch window... it is hard to care.  Nintendo just failed to have software that makes people care, can't expect people to support a system just because it offers a new way to go on a social network while playing games.

Oh, that would be concerning those 'lights of death' events.  Yikes!

Reminds me as anyone here seen Strange Days?  It is a similar theme taking to an extreme.

Woa, didn't realize James Cameron wrote it.
