Um yeah. Duh...

This is ,simply put, just not true ! I can link you to a dozen Interviews with Developers who nothing but praise Nintendo for their indie stance (heck, the hole WebFramework, FREE Unity license, something not even Sony gives away...does that ring a bell?) like those ones:
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/07/oddworld_founder_would_work_with_satoru_iwata_in_a_second
and there was 1 case where the Just Cause devs casually said that they couldn´t contact anyone at Nintendo...which is laughable to say the least !

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
| Mr Khan said: It's not an issue of it being Japanese and more of the massive bridge between those who work on PC (even if they may not bear Nintendo any malice, PC-devs usually just consider them a non-factor) and Nintendo. Not since the days of Doom and Duke Nukem 3D getting ports to Nintendo systems has Nintendo cared much about what was going on in the PC community, and likewise a divergence on the PC side. |
Minecraft has gone far beyond PC now, as proven by the Xbox 360 Edition selling over 8 Million units.
I think were all forgetting something here, too.
Mojang didnt develop the 360 version of Minecraft. Mojang didnt have the dev power. Microsoft approached them, licensed the game and got 4J Studios to develop it for 360. This is why there was an exclusivity agreement and the game wasnt on PlayStation (Or Nintendo). Notch makes lots of money. Microsoft make lots of money. Both parties happy.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo doesn't even have any contact with Mojang, just like Nintendo doesn't have any contact with 95% of third party publishers. Nintendo doesn't want any third party to be on board and third parties don't want to be on board with Nintendo.

Actually the work to convert the PC -> X360 was the hardest part so far since the PC version is JAVA based while as far as I know the X360 was mostly new code. Likewise iOS Portable Minecraft. I think the Android Portable Minecraft was able to re-use alot of the original JAVA code. It is much easier to port the X360 version now to the PS3/PS4. I believe they might be using the Non-Portable specific version of Minecraft for the PSVita but I guess we need more details on that. As for 'slapping' a logo on the bottom screen. LOL. People would be screaming to high hell if that is what they did for the 3DS/Wii U version. Calling them lazy bastards for not putting in the time to make true use of the second screen. And again, NO MAP should be visible on the second screen all the time. That is not how minecraft works/should work. You need to create a map first, explore to fill in the map, then, maybe you could view the map on the second screen for limited periods of time. |
Ubisoft openly stated as well as other devs how easy it is to add gamepad functionality. All your post have no relevance other than to incite a spark of anger inside somebody.

Pretty soon. They said Minecraft was going to be a PS4 launch title.

Ubisoft is Ubisoft. I huge coporation with developers coming out their arse. Mojang is Mojang. Who is going to develop the Wii U/3DS version of Minecraft? Certainly not Mojang themselves. Which studio are they going to outsource to? Who is going to foot the bill?
Microsoft essentially paid for Minecraft to be ported over to X360. Id bet there is a significant profit share between Mojang, 4J Studios, and Microsoft.
Betting this is exactly the same for Sony. Sony is probably footing the bill, might even be providing the studio to develop it. I might have to even strike my remark that the code used to develop the X360 version could be used even in parts because of copyright stuff. Either that or Mojang created a whole new team that has been working in the shadows this whole time (a very not-mojang thing to do btw) that is responsible for this new version.
As others have remarked in this thread Nintendo typically doesn't give two shits about western PC games getting ported over to their system. So no money hatting or development studio help from Nintendo to help Mojang bring a proper port over. Mojang simply does not have the resources to create a whole new version of Minecraft on top of trying to make use of a second screen. No matter how 'easy' it is to use said second screen (which again ill bet isn't as easy for a really small dev studio compared to Ubisoft).

Sony goes out of their way to get talent and games on their systems. It really is no surprise Notch agreed to support Playstation (Did you see the golden PSone they sent him?). Not only that Notch just gain the 85m market of the PS3+Vita and the addition of whatever PS4 sells. Easy decision.
The Wii U has a pultry user base and no sufficient standard storage. I just don't get why it would be an obvious thing to. (Not saying it won't or can't happen).
