and most of the best games today are "indie"

You're not serious, aren't you?

Did you mean "You're not serious, are you?" ?

Anyways...im quite series. You do realise that "indie" simply refers to games that are developed and released by independant developers?

In fact that makes some of the games Sony announced today not indie at all. Now if people didnt like some of the games because of the game itself then thats fine. But it seems like people are just annoyed because the games didnt seem like big budget AAA titles.

There are so many "indie" games that are really popular and people don't even know they are "indie".

I know what indie means. But independant developers that make themselves a funded studio are not indie. In fact, every single studio, except for those who are funded from the beginning, are indie. Naught Dog was indie back in its days. So was Quantic Dreams. Bullfrog. And so on.

There's a misconception. People are videogame developers. The term "indie" is loosely used.

Ive edited my post just to add to my point, if you want to read.

But about the term indie....yes it is loosely used but that doesnt take away the fact that it has a very precise meaning. It also applies to a lot of developer teams around the world this very minute. So while people on the net might be using it loosely that doesnt mean its the correct way to use the term.Quite frankly i dont think a lot of people know any better.  Some people genuinely believe that every game shown today by Sony was "Indie" that's factually wrong.

It seems to me people just mean shitty graphics when they talk about indie.

Well Warframe looks much better than some AAA titles shown so far for next gen consoles.

Graphics don't make a game. I don't mind how a game looks as long as I have fun playing it.

What really was awesome was seeing Shuhei Yoshida using the ps4 interface, looking for friends playing some games. Then watching live your friend playing and joining his party in just 5 seconds. That was really next gen.

Yeah, I know that. trying to make a point here -_-

People are bashing sony for showing indie games. When what they should be doing is bashing Sony for showing what they think look like shitty games.

I'm giving you support!

It was bad. Almost nothing new and a later than expected launch date.

Sony Gamescon was awesome? Seriously?

It was a boring-fest of "Developers saying how cool this is", Indie games, some cool first and third-party games (Some of them were already announced) and Ubisoft Ubisoft Ubisoft.

It sucked, in my opinion.

Sony used Gamescom to send a message. MS is paying bigtime for turning on the indy devs. Also, Sony is definitely going to destroy their launch already out pre-ordering Microsoft and launching in 3 times the countries.

Cool, but that doesn't make it less boring-fest.

That was the most rubbish press conference I have ever seen.

If you don't like indie games that have a price tag above free, there was NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING at all.

They basically confirmed the death of the PS Vita. Yeah we have the Vita, here are 3 ports of games that can be bought for $5 on Xbox 360 / PS3 and PC already and a handful of indie games. No first party support, but we cut the price...

No game announcements for the PS3 (no surprise though).

Showing off 15 indie games I can find in every appstore on every smartphone already was just embarrissing to watch. And most of them are either console exclusives or timed exclusives. "We built the most powerful console - here are games you can play on Windows 95!"

I had a chat with 2 co-workers who are PS fans and even they said this was boring and a pain to watch. Whoever is responsible for this conference needs to be fired today.

What your score for the MS conference?

To be honest, maybe MS was smart not to have one.  If you really do not have enough content to hype your product after E3 then its probably not worth spending all that money on a conference.  I made this statement before that conferences can be boring if the info is not targeted to you.  It appears Sony was not able to really bring anything people wanted and indie titles is not what people expectations are.  People were expecting AAA reveals and that did not happen. Its why  most people want to see a conference because they want to see the big stuff.  Smaller stuff can easily be made known through the media.

I believe MS made the smarter move this time.  Lower expectations thus you do not disappoint a lot of people.
