3D Mario is now going to be split up in a multiplayer and singleplayer version. This version can't be ruined by multiplayer since that's the entire focus. That's the point.

"Please understand..."

Do we have any real guarantee they will continue with  single player Mario 3D though, or will they throw that in the trash in favour of this NSMBified laziness?

Yes, Money and sales. There is a very, very small change that Nintendo would ignore a 10 million seller like 3D Mario Singleplayer in their current state.

Maybe they figure they can just replace it with this "NSMB in 3D" crap, like they replaced 2D Mario with 3D in the 90s.

As far as I'm aware, not only have we seen very little of the game so it's pre emptive to judge at this point, but it also isn't the next true 3D Mario title. That's coming later.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I haven't played the galaxy games nor have i seen a lot of footage from Mario 3D world, but i do agree with your post. From what i saw at e3 i found the level design of the galaxy games so much more striking and interesting.

I was concerned about this too. Still am actually. Can't get pumped for this new Mario. Mario's always been a solo affair for me anyway and that's the way I like it.

One multiplayer-focused entry in the 3D Mario series isn't going to change everything. :/ It's practically a series of one-off games to begin with, is it not?

One of the most disappointing things about the reveal of Mario 3D World at E3 wasn't the plain graphics and music, but how barren, straightforward and simplistic the levels were. Gone were the inventive twists and clever puzzles the series is known for, replaced by levels that looked almost auto-generated.

At first (well, second, after I got done putting a hit out on Koichi Hayashida) I just thought they'd rushed it out to fill the Wii U's barren software schedule, and hadn't taken the time to handcraft each level well.

Later, however, I realized that the simplistic levels were actually a casualty of its new focus; multplayer in 3D. In order to keep all players in the screen and give each of them a good view of the environment, the worlds pretty much had to be one-sided and simplistic; if you had too may obstacles they'd obscure players and the features each one might need to see.

In their rush to try to "3D-ize" NSMBW/U's 4-player mayhem, Nintendo let it ruin the main draw of 3D Mario; its genius 3D Worlds. (Oh, the irony)

Really? The game I saw looked like a significant improvement over the previous Mario 3D Land game. Are you thinking of the same game? Or are you just trying to be way over-dramatic just for the purposes of having something to post about?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

About as much of a 'real guarantee' that Mario 3D World will be bad or have bland level design based only on the first few levels?

Seems like "hardcore" Nintendo fans are really not liking this game. With Nintendo games you got to play and see if it is good or not. So i'll be checking it out in December and have some fun with it.

I mean if they showed another Mario Galaxy then people would be complaining with "OMG LOL Nintendo another Galaxy game rofl".

I just want my proper 3D Mario alright.... why Miyamoto.....WHY

As far as I know, Miyamoto isn't making this; he was doing Pikmin , now he's working on his new IP.

3D World is being produced by Yoshiaki Koizumi and directed by Koichi Hayashida.

Wow, really? :/ I hope they have a new, skilled team working on a proper 3D Mario... I generally dislike Mario, but I really liked Galaxy so that disappoints me.
