I doubt they will go back to the third title formula after Black and white 2 did so well. I would also prefer a 2 than a Z.

I know what you're talking about. The mithology was 3 creatures and were missing one wich was a snake i thought. That can still fit if they make two versions of it like they did with Kyurem.

realistic, yeah of course if your only looking at userbase, but time and time again can prove that userbase doesnt mean everything! Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby had 16mil on a user base of 80mil right(GBA)? while the next gen game D/P had 18mil on a user base that was almost double that of GBA! 3DS wont sell as high as DS but to say pokemon wont hit 20mil base cuz of 3DS? Dont forget there are alot of people buying 3DS's just for this game! Also this game has many elements evolving and changing and there is so much hype behind the game, Like i pointed out before this game aint going lower than 16mil. Also to prove a point who would of thought MKWii sell over 30mil+ right when no game on ps2 sold over 20mil!!!! Differene being PS2>>>>>>Wii in userbase!

Right, but in order for your assumption to be correct, 2/3 of the entire 3DS install base would have to buy the game.  And it's highly unlikely that 2/3 of all current 3DS owners are Pokemon fans.  I think the D/P figure you mentioned of 18 mil shows the ceiling for a Pokemon game's market penetration.

Why you say 2/3 of the install base? its lifetime, not day 1 for 20mil pokemon games to be sold (3ds user base now is almost 33mil but by years end will be at least 41mil and following year at LEAST 52mil - 54mil). and to be honest with you i think 3ds will have at least 65mil-70mil by end of 2015, so user base is much less than 1/3! Anyway we'll see! lets hope the game exceeds :p


Yeah, but game sales spike at release and then decline.  A large portion of Pokemon X/Y's sales will be by the end of 2013.  So if we're not seeing a trajectory by December that makes 20 million a mathematical possibility, then we'll know.  Of course, no one knows for sure what will happen, which is why I'm saying it's possible, not impossible.  But, we have to be realistic.

Lol, you're too excited for your own good! At first you were like "OMG 20 millionz copiiiz!" And now you're like "cuz of now i see it doing around 18 - 18.5 million". And though it has a chance to pass R/S sales, it probably won't pass the percentage of buyers vs. the install base, Pokemon just doesn't have the "oomph" it had before, and the decreases in this percentage vs install base hasn't shown signs of letting down.

Lol, every gen has so much to offer, but I have to admit that Hoenn still is the best region over the other ones, it's just so big and filled with tons of exploration. But, what they really need though, is a full 3D world with 3D models and everything in 3D.....on a console....with the same scopes of a traditional pokemon game. Now that would be an instant hit because it would be something that would change the way we imagine the world of Pokemon. (would likely be an instant success and definitely increase Wii U sales....hint hint GameFreak and Nintendo)

they tried that though, i hope they make another one but MH and Pokemon are handheld only!

They? So far no console pokemon game plays the same as traditional Pokemon games, and no, I don't consider the GCN pokemon games as "traditional". I think some people are craving for fully exploring the open world of Pokemon, not via sprites and flat backgrounds.

I think they will, especially with all the new stuff they're doing. Japan alone will account for half. US can do the rest.

I'm buying both as I have every color there is.

The only problem with Hoenn is that there is TOO MUCH FREAKING WATER. I would have liked it if Maxie succeded in his goals. 

 

About that full 3D Pokemon game; It would be epic. It would sell a lot of Wii U's. But it just won't happen. That's just not Pokémon.

But it could be Pokémon. I wrote an idea once for a 3D Pokémon World game on the Wii U, just about everyone who read it said they wanted it. The main allure is that it would be like the TV show in regards to exploration and battles.

The handhelds would be left alone of course, they would do their thing and the console would do its thing.

I liked the water though! And the diving! But I always bought a ton of repels to stay away from annoying Pokemon that I don't care about.

 

Well it wouldn't be Pokemon as we know it because we've never played it like that, but the idea shouldn't be tossed aside simply because "it's meant to be played mobile" as the director has said previously. But just what makes Pokemon, "Pokemon".
