Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One Will Still Function If Kinect Isn't Plugged In

Who believed them when they said the Xbone needs Kinect? They were just desperately trying to sell the value of the Kinect when currently it has none.

if they make it 400$ without the kinect then it looks like i will get the console much sooner

Finally, the system is looking better and better everyday. None of the first party titles interest me yet, and I've already got the PS4 preordered. Don't really want to spend an extra 500$ right now.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

For you...

Seems like Microsoft may sell the Xbox One without the Kinect for a cheaper price after all.

Great news imo sense I originally thought that if the Kinect broke I would have to spend $100-$150 just to be able to use my Xbox one.

you mean core gamers?

They won't have a Kinectless SKU. If they do that, then developers can no longer integrate Kinect features.

good news for those who want an X1, M$ can add DRM back whenever they want though so I am still not getting.

Plus, M$ doesn't have as many proven studios as Sony, and they will drop support for the console as soon as its successor is revealed

How are you not banned?

Glad they changed that, if I get a X1 the kinect isn't leaving the box.

So, you wouldn't even hook it up and try it out?  You just paid $100+ for it and your not going to hook it up because why?

Well the bottom of my TV is crowded enough so there is only room on top of my TV and I'd rather not have it balanced on top of my TV, I'd rather press a button than say a phrase to tell my console to do something.  I just have no interest in it at all.  I don't want to "be the controller," no kinect games interest me, I don't want to be waving my hands around, I just want to sit back and relax while I game.  I also don't use apps like Netflix so the voice feature will be of no use to be to traverse through menus.  Also less cables around the better, already got a ton connected to my TV.

At least your response makes sense and is practical.  I have heard so many "just because" answers that i just wanted to hear something of substance.  I have a similar problem as far as space, but i was actually looking forward to the multimedia features of the XBone as a bonus.

So, what's the point of even including the thing in the box?
