Glad they changed that, if I get a X1 the kinect isn't leaving the box.

So, you wouldn't even hook it up and try it out?  You just paid $100+ for it and your not going to hook it up because why?

Because there are people who don't want it. Simple answer really.

If Henry Ford listened to his potential customers, they would have asked for faster horses......

Many people just don't know what they want until they try it. Many gamers are stuck in the past TBH

Terrible comparison. It actually doesn't even make sense. Ford didn't make the first car. He just had the first one mass produced on a production line. So no if you had asked people what they wanted at the time they would have said a car but most people couldn't afford it. So it would have been cars for an affordable price. The same way people are asking to remove kinect and lwoer the price.

good news for those who want an X1, M$ can add DRM back whenever they want though so I am still not getting.

Plus, M$ doesn't have as many proven studios as Sony, and they will drop support for the console as soon as its successor is revealed

What a terrible response, especially in a thread of good news.

If they bring it back mid-gen, which makes 0 sense, then they will go through the same backlash and lose out on money. Your talk of optomistic negative hypotheticals just shows how much you are fishing.

Drop support? 360 is turning 8 this year and is confirmed to be at least a 10 year console. It hasn't price dropped since 2008 in NA, now thats longevity......when was the last PS3 price cut?

EDIT: it is missing 3-4 PS3 retail releases which are recently announced

like what things does kinect add that makes more then worth paying 500$ to have with your xbox one give 5 things

Seriously... What is you point now?

You know, Kinect > Nothing, whatever the price you pay for...
Starting another debate about the price of the Xbox One or the fact that you do not care about Kinect will not change that...

Who believed them when they said the Xbone needs Kinect? They were just desperately trying to sell the value of the Kinect when currently it has none.

Its PR, essentially the X1 needs Kinect to be at its best. But essentially thats all in the past now. Downplaying Kinect like that is just wrong.....even for you. You are better then that.

Little things that all add up: instant turning on and profile log-in based on facial recognition, voice navigate a very dense marketplace, gesture/voice control media, multiplats and exclusives can have integrated kinect to complement the gamepad to give it an edge on PS4 counterparts.

Skyping with someone without relying on your PC/laptop to do what your console can't.God forbid you throw a party for people who aren't considered core gamers.....

For $100, for a console you would own for 5+years easy, with all its little convienences, seems very justifiable.

The people that are bitching about this are the very ones that have no intention of buying an Xbox One in the first place.

So, what's the point of even including the thing in the box?

don't want a split userbase so 3rd parties can still implement features

This is to FINALLY shut up the tin-foil crowd. And one day, god forbid, they actually try it :P

This is so true... And they believe themselves to be  "core gamers" speaking in the name of all other core gamers...
