Yep, it was a lie. They just needed to get people to believe in the concept of the Kinect 2. They know the commercial value is gone so they force bundled it and told people the Xbone couldn't go on without it. They also told everyone they couldnt overturn policies on DRM and they did within weeks. They basically lied about almost everything. Luckily in business its not always about lies, so the fans can get what they want out of the deal without being had.

Actaully MS did not overturn their Online DRM policy, they completly dropped the online part completely. There is a big difference between the 2. MS could not just change how the console was going to handle its online infrastuture. Everything was tied into having games installed on the HDD. The whole DRM was because games were going to be installed on the console instead of run from disk.
As for Kinect having to be plugged in, it probably did have to be plugged in. This was an unpopular issue for consumers and evidently MS changed the console to not depend on Kinect. Probably should have done that in the first place but hindsight is....well you know the rest.
Anyway lie does not fit the situation. 180 meets the turn better as they had unpopular ideals and totally changed them based on consumer feedback. Not sure why people would want a company to ignore them but if you read comments from most people you would think they want a company to igore their complaints.

So you proved that MS did not lie. 180 to change a direction to lie is to give false information. None of the info MS gave was false about their device but instead the direction MS was steering the device was the problem.

They pulled a 180 on the policy, but decieved the majority of the people about the dependence of the peripheral upon said product.
Good Day Sir!

I understand your logic but there is a flaw. At the time when MS made all of these nice statements, never was it stated that they could not be reversed. Its still the same thing. MS followed one vision and it was flawed so they they reversed those decisions. In some steps they had to drop everything and go back to square one. Others they had to work out removing certain aspect of a product to fit the new direction. This does not make any statements a lie. It would be a lie if MS continue to follow a flawed plan and told everyone that this is neccessary. That would be considered a lie. Any decision can be reversed if you are willing to pay the price for it. You can believe that all the reversals MS has made cost a ton of money.
You want to compare something that I consider a lie. When you tell people a feature is not needed, last gen and you have better tech all the while you did not implement the tech because you did not pay a license fee for it. Once the license fee was settled, your next iteration of a product had that obsolete feature in it. Guess what product that was.
