I thought Dead Rising 3 was going to use the tablet? IF the Xbone uses a tablet the PS4 will most likely be no different. I never said theres no value in the Kinect but its used up its publicity.

It does. I'm talking about when if you make a noise the zombies in DR3 can hear you and they flock towards you, or you can whistle and it'll distract them.

Oh, you can do that with the PS Eye. It just depends on whether the devs decide to do it.

Can you, I haven't heard anything about the PSeye, do you have a link for that?

Not that it negates anything, how exactly does PSeye doing that not mean it's of somewhat value for for Kinect? Why you always gotta turn it into a PS4 vs X1 thing stage?

Who believed them when they said the Xbone needs Kinect? They were just desperately trying to sell the value of the Kinect when currently it has none.

For you...

you mean core gamers?

Stop trying to pretend that all core gamers things that Kinect is not adding anything valuable; it is almost insulting me who consider myself as a core gamer to see other gamers on the internet stating such ridiculous things...

For core games, maybe it would not add a big giant new super cool feature of doom, but it adds some nice to have stuff. And even if it is not to "core" gameplay, stating that Kinect is not adding any value at all is just plain riduclous.

Adding value and forcing every buyer to get one is two different thing. Chances are we don't need Kinect at all  to enjoy the xbox fully, but MS is pushing it at us, but sooner or later, they'll change their mind, they do it all the times now.

I do not understand this forcing part.  Its part of the console just like any other part and a consumer has the option to purchase or not purchase.  Chances are, you have no clue if you need kinect or not since it will be on MS to provide that need.  I am not sure If I need Kinect but I do like what MS is attempting to do with the device.  Execution will be the key and if MS can nail a experience that separate theri console from it's competitiors than that would be a plus in their book

That's completely subjective. to me it has tons of value.

OT: I'm glad they are doing this, it would be pretty bad if Kinect was required for the console to operate.

Then whats the point of not letting the people decide the fate of the Kinect? My friend sent me this meme. It makes a lot of sense.

They have stated multiple times that they want Kinect with every console to stay consistant and have it reach it's full potential. Basically whenever someone makes a game, they will be able to implement Kinect with the knowledge that everyone will have it.

It's quite similar to having a hard drive optional vs. every console coming with one.

Because I am stating that its not an exclusive selling point if everyone can do it (then again, I might have to take it back since MS bought the exclusivity of DR3 just like the first game).  It's a specific instance but what happens when it comes down to truer exclusivity and multiplatform gaming. Everyone seems to be using some peripheral these days so the gap is getting slimmer and slimmer. The Kinects major selling point is that it could do things the other consoles couldnt by voice command or motion detection.....was it not?

I believe as a external device that could break, it did not make sense for MS to require it for operation of the console. As a device they feel will separate their console from Sony, well that's a risk it appears they are willing to make.

What I find is that nature always favors the bold. If you are bold and take risk, you have the chance to crash and burn but you also have the opportunity to gain greater success. This was true for Nintendo with the Wii. It was very bold for them to go on their own and do their own thing. Once in the hands of users their system gain popularity and Nintendo reaped the rewards. You can put Apple on the same list. I remember all the negative things people were saying before the first Iphone released. Once the device got into peoples hands, Apple was able to reap the rewards of doing it their way.

So MS is betting that Kinect will give an experience better than what people are expecting. Its a huge risk because it adds more cost to their console but it also puts them into a position to execute or risk failure. I like it more when MS is in desperation mode then when they feel they have everything wrapped up. There are things I am looking for Kinect to do and I am hoping MS can nail the experience.

You don't need PSeye or Kinect, splinter cell chaos theory already did this with the headset.

Good. Hopefully the (now small, but persistent) "Xbox One is always watching you" crowd will finally shut up.

Though I won't hold my breath.

So... EVERYTHING they announced at the event in May, was a lie?

It seems they've done a 180 on just about everything they said back then, this was the last item that fanboys and haters had as ammunition against the console, and now it's been fixed... yeah.

Didn't Microsft say that they were listening to feedback?

I smell fear. Soon the X1's launch price will be $399 and people know it.

Not going to happen (look at CBOAT's reaction). They've got a lot riding on Kinect and invested too much in it to drop it like that.

OT: good news I guess.. even if 180, again xP
