You're not supposed to buy both versions of Pokemon. You pick one, and you are getting pretty much the same game as if you had picked the other.

That is far from the same thing as releasing an entirely new game every year with minimal changes. For all intents and purposes, Red and Blue are one game; Gold and Silver are one game; and so on.

This and what Zekkyou said.

If you were supposed to buy both versions of Pokemon, they would have let you trade between the games on the same system.  The reason they are different is so that you are more willing to trade.  Because your version of pokemon, you cannot find certain types of pokemon, you will actively seek out someone with another version to trade with.  It also encourages battles as you can have teams that someone with a different version CAN'T have (especially with the legendaries being different between the two).  The point of having two of "the same game" of pokemon is to add to the value of owning just ONE of the two.

The only time Pokemon even came close to COD release times was Black and White 2. That was the first sequel. I don't count the remakes. Those are just done for people who really wanted the older games updated with the newer mechanic's. Besides, even with all the remakes, 3rd versions. They put a hell of a lot more stuff into the games to warrant $40. COD is new map packs and a junk SP game every time. I doubt people would be complaining about yearly releases, if the team could actually make a 20 hr SP game that's worth it.

black 2 and white 2 count as the "3rd version", even though the story happens two years later.

Yep, every 3 to 4 years.

gen 1: 1996       gen 2: 1999     gen3: 2002     gen4: 2006    gen5: 2010     gen6: 2013

correct, every 3 to for years.

COD4, COD:WAW, COD:MW2, COD:BO, COD:MW3 and COD: BO2 are all part of the same gen.

Gen 1: 2003, Gen 2: 2007, Gen 3: 2013.

Correct, every 5 years.

Fair enough.

Do the Black Ops and MW have anything to do with eachother?

/serious question, haven't played any MW game.

They don't.

so according to your logic is OK to release the same game over and over but if you add changes to it and add stuff like CoD its wrong?

I don't know anyone who buys both versions (red & blue, gold & silver, etc). My sister and I used to get opposite versions -- it was fun. It was like we were both playing almost the same game, but the little differences changed the experience. It made it more fun to talk about.

GameFreak doesn't care about people buying both versions -- that's certainly not their intention. From the start, the purpose of dual releases has been to encourage discussion and trading between friends. Not to "trick" people into buying two games at once. Some people do anyway, and they may be a bit fanatical -- or maybe they just want to start a new save file without erasing their old one.

By no means do I hate Call of Duty, but come on now. Don't compare COD to a game with dozens of hours of single-player content, near-endless customization options and replayability, loads of post-game content, and a thriving competitive community to boot. A well-behaved competitive community.

FPS is to the cardbox age of VG what Shmup were to its golden age : an over represented genre.

There you have the difference.

What's good with pokemon is that it's an easy RPG, it can be played by anyone and despite their experience in VG.

Pokemon is the almost only possible start with RPG, but Call of Duty has a lot of competitors wich has either a (better) storyline or a better competitive multiplayer.

Pokemon is the very first game of a lot of people, the one that made them play video games.

Who starts playing video games with Call of Duty ?

No, I never said pokemon is the same game over and over. you're the one desperately puting those words on my mouth.
