Sony doesn't have nothing to do with Beyond and Xillia, though. That's the developers choosing which platform do they want to put their game on.

You mean Ni No Kuni, not Beyond: Two Souls.

No wonder that there is hardly any decent discussion on this site, because one guy is as clueless as the next. So shame on you, Wright, because I expect better from you.

Isn't Quantic Dream a company that put games on Sony just because they like Sony? As far as I know, they have no contract. They can put games on WiiU if they would like to.

C'mon, man. You can name Rain too. I won't get mad.

I dont need to name PSN games. Sony covers their end where it matters.

Dude....You know that Sony funded the development of Heavy Rain. Probably let Quantic use their movie house resources as well. They own the IP and they are funding Beyond as well. They heavily encourage games like this. Xillia was Sony getting theirs because Microsoft got their own tales game earlier. They've been experimenting with companies who make movie-like games since 1995. Ever heard of Naughty Dog?

I have no clue, but JRPG's tend to sell well on Sony products if the adequately support Japan (which they haven't). I hope they stop focusing so much on westerners and mix it up. In Sonys first gen they had the the most experimental IP's because they switched it up with their studios. Sony Japan was at its best in the first two gens.

Yeah, but you've gotta admit that there's support for japanese games on the 360...outside Japan. The fact that japanese developers don't want to put their games on the 360 is something Microsoft can't control. That's a bonus for Sony, but not because Microsoft don't want to have its share.

Typical derailment of topics... not sure how much longer I'll post here myself. If it wasn't for NSanity posting news right away I'd be less inclined to be here for sure. I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall sometimes.

It's just that simple.

Yeah, but Microsoft is essentially trying to get Japan to buy essentially the same product. If they cannot differentiate themselves from Sony to make their product stand out the Japanese are just going to say "outside knockoff" and move on.

They've barely supported it the last few years, ignoring Kinect. Calling bollocks on this.

I agree with KylieDog. They haven't done squat these past few years. Why should we believe them?

Sony doesn't try to differentiate themselves in Japan either. They just let 3rd parties do that for them. Sony's primary focus is creating games western audiences want.

MS could pay Japanese developers for exclusives. But the Japanese audience simply isn't worth the money to do that.

If MS paid Japanese developers to simply port games on their platforms that would otherwise be Playstation exclusives, it would still boost the sales of MS hardware in Japan. But once again, not a worthwhile endeavor.

Sonys goal for the gaming industry outside of getting back at Nintendo was to create a wider brand of games than Nintendo had the aspiration to create but by primarily focusing on the element of popular culture which was 3D movies getting over with kids. They wanted it to be taken seriously as a form of electronics and multimedia (since thats what they were good at). Nintendo was ok with being a toy company and still making good games for their product. Microsoft joined up once Sony had expanded the market and done this. In America and the west people can look over major similarities and differentiate an outside brand by the smallest of subtle differences, but in Japan if they are too similar they stick with the home brand. Japan has their own commoner vehicles and luxury cars, but you would be crazy not to see a BMW or Mercedes over there. Why? Because those are cars that are just in a class of their own. They have the Acura and the Lexus, but its just not the BMW or Mercedes. They have Starbucks and McDonalds....companies with very little competition. Apple products are also pretty popular.
