U might want to rethink that. 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 will come very close to 10m this holiday and a mainline pokemon has never sold less than 10m, even both remakes have passed that number.

Cool, I understand now.  But since games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage are not counted as fighters because beat-em-up is a sub-genre only it is only logical to not count SSB for same reason when discussing actual fighters.

I always thought side scrolling beat em ups were an entirely different genre, could be wrong though

From the creators own mouth, "I like to think of Smash as a four-player battle royal action game. You'll notice that's a lot longer than saying it's a fighting game, because 'fighting game' is a completely different label."


I read it and all hes essentially saying is its not a traditional fighting game.

Hahaha forgot to put 'before it' at the end of that sentence. Bah, you know what I meant :P

 

I could be totally wrong but I think Pokemon will take a long time to reach 10m this time around (if indeed it does). Is it normal for US preorders to be so low this close to release? I'm looking forward to preorders opening on COMG so I can get an idea of the Japanese interest.

MK and 3D world will get there but 2D Mario has a broader appeal and I think it will sell much faster than those two this holiday season

It's gonna have to sell like 5x as fast as MK7/SM3DL to make it first. That's just not gonna happen, even if it gets bundled.
