Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One’s Game Recording Features Restricted To Xbox Live Gold Members

@hinch
Fraps isn't free if you want to record HD game play.

I'm not paying for Skype. I'm paying for online multiplayer. All of the other features are bonuses. If multiplayer was free I wouldn't pay for any of the features. Just because something is only available with a Gold account doesn't mean I'm specifically paying for it. I doubt anyone is buying a X1 specifically for Skype. Its a bonus feature for Gold members. Why are you paying for automatic updates with PSN+? Its free on Xbox.

Those that would want to use this that DON'T have gold are certainly in the minority. Too bad for the minority I guess. This feature may even be a reason that few people upgrade to gold.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

A one off payment of £25 then its yours to use however long you want and keep whatever you record. It's got quite a few options for recording, can take screenshots in many formats and supports video captures upto 8k res or something silly like that.

If you don't want want fork out for it, I'm sure you can find some other free alternatives like OBS, which does 1080p recordings just fine.

Not surprising of Microsoft. At least they get a constant livestream of you for free courtesy of Kinect.

Does game recording require playstation plus on PS4?

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Can not say I see this as problematic at all. I pay for having internet on my computer, I pay for being able to stream Netflix, why shouldn´t I pay for using a great service like XBLG? Otherwise, if I do not pay, I can still use the machine as a games console only, with no extra bling-bling.

And, we are talking a very small amount of money for a service that delivers great value, but I always find it funny how people can accept paying for some things but not other, simliar services :). Or wait, could the reaction from some people in this thread in someway be connected to this being a MS news? :)

Man, this whole Kinect bashing in every thread is really childish...
