Why would you buy a next gen console and not have a Gold account or PSN+? If you really are that anti-social and never play online sharing videos wouldn't be something that interests you in the first place. Once again more whining for no reason from people not interested in buying the Xbox One in the first place.

Just to point out Comcast charges $9 a month for only HD DVR functions and on demand and you guys are complaining about paying $5 a month (or $3.50 a month for anyone who takes 10 minutes to find a discount card) to DVR game footage, Skype, Online gaming, NFL on Xbox, etc.

The PS4 is a hardware feature... the Xbone was announced (and I think developed) after Sony... so MS is using a software feature and not hardware... my guesswork of course.

Everyone just needs to accept that paywalls are a thing ... even Sony does it which is a much greater scandal than anything that has come out about Xbox One recently considering that "free online" was the battle cry of the PS3.

Microsoft has a paywall. Sony has a paywall. Nintendo will have a paywall soon.

I'm sure over 50% of the users won't have Gold or PS+ on Xbone and PS4.

To play new games maybe? Not everyone plays online (I hardly ever play any multiplayer on consoles these days).. but since the game is recording feature is there, why can't I use it too aside from buying into a premium service? I mean the game is already recorded onto HDD already.

PC has FRAPs plus a load of other video capture software which you can get for free and upload to wherever.

Also, how is Sony's requiring a PS+ account for their NEW console to play multiplayer (other than F2P, which MS still places behind their own paywall) a scandal? The system they promised free online play continues to be free to this day and will for at least the forseeable future. I'd say they did right by the PS community in that regard.`

Paywalls needs to be optionals in consoles... not mandatory.
