Let's face it... As a male gamer, I prefer to look at chick's asses while playing :)
So yah, when I play a third person game, as I'm going to spend the majority of my time with the ass of my antagonist in the middle of the screen, I will definitely go for a sexy female one!
I made a thread just like this...I to play as a female when given an option.
No importa
Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Thank you. Nuh uh, that's Yae the Land Goddess from Yozakura Quartet. Don't be fooled, she only dresses as a nun because she loves the outfit. She is also obsessed with stuffed bears. |
I knew I heard about that anime. Same illustrator as durarara!!, digimon re and devil survivor.

if the game is good i dont really care. But im still waiting for a Zelda game where you can play as Zelda, not even for the entire time. Sad that there havent been any playable female characters in GTA. Like what they did with the Last of US did not see tha coming.

| RolStoppable said: It has to do with the fact that the main target demographic for today's blockbuster games are male teenagers, so games have to be designed in a way that allows the player to live out adolescent male fantasies. This usually means a tough guy who kills stuff and impresses the ladies (if there are female characters in the games). Assuming the role of a female lead character is a very unmanly thing to do. |
This.
Also, the kind of games that are more popular with women tend to have either optional genders for the player character, or characters where gender is rather immaterial.
I don't really care one way or the other. Some stories are better told through a male character, while other stories are told better from a female perspective. It just depends on the game.
Doesn't matter for single player for me.
Multiplayer as the most flamboyant female in the game to salt the wounds of me kicking my opponent's butts.
I prefer to play as a male, since I am a male, and I find it easier to project myself onto a character that is male (particularly if there is any romance involved). When given a choice at the beginning of an RPG, I pretty much always pick the male character, at least for my first playthrough.
That being said, I don't really have too much of a problem playing as a female character in a game. I very much enjoyed playing as Lara Croft in the most recent Tomb Raider, for example, and I can't wait to play the next-gen follow-up.
