wow so many pages talking about the profit here.
In all honesty I don't think Rockstar should care if it profits on Wii U or not. The game will make them 100s of millions from the other two systems. So even if they loose 3 million, it is pocket change. In any case carnival games earned them millions from Wii, what did they do with that money? not reinvest much of it back into Wii it would seem
The benefit of putting the game on the system is to try and gain a new audience. There are loads of people who own one console each generation and when they grow up atm they have the choice of go to a console with 3rd party support or stick with a Nintendo console. If a Nintendo console offered GTA then those who stuck it out with a Nintendo system only have the ability to buy the game. It may also retain those who left if there was enough 3rd party support. At worst what will happen is some of the sales will shift from Sony and Microsoft to Nintendo. This isn't such a bad thing considering when you compare GTA sales on PS2/xbox against PS3/360. It looks like half the gamers shifted to xbox over ps3 this gen. Next gen it is looking more like PS4 will have way more sales of GTA.
COD is a good example of a game that makes no big profit. Activation opening said they were not happy with the COD sales on Wii U yet the next one is coming out in the hope a new Audience grows to further expand the profits of the franchise.
