I will buy a PS3 this year (mgs4 pending) but too many people here are up and arms about PS3 selling this much that week. Must mean they have nothing to play no?

MGS4, Jakuza3, Disgaea3, DMC4, WKS, FFXIII, GT5, Tekken6, Soul Calibur4, Eternal Sonata, Lost Planet, Armored Core, Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean4/RE5(maybe 2009), Naruto, Silent Hill 5, Last Remnant, AC6, Valkyrie, KH3(ps3/wii) and etc.

THAT is how many japanese oriented games expected to come in 2008 on PS3. And THESE are only announced in developement.

Now compare THAT to 2007 japanese oriented games.
Japan alone could make around 80k weekly outselling with spikes durign BIG games releases.
All, it`s needed, ps3 to outsel x360 with combined usa/europe numbers. =]
100k = 70 weeks.

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

So you're saying they are just rubbing it in for the slack they got 6 month ago form Xbox owners?

 At least the PS3 is closing the gap, when the PS2 launched before the Xbox1the gap kept growing and growing and growing... lol

I'm still leaning on the PS3 outselling the 360 by Fall/Winter 2008

@ ssj12, personally I see that as optimistic, I don't think it can be done that quickly, I would go for mid 09

Sony is more likely to drop prices. It’s still priced higher then what I think they wanted to sell it for originally. Once they can do that and not take a loss, they will drop the price, regardless of sales and what MS does.

 

If MS is going to drop the price, it’s because they have to (sales slump or Sony drops there). Remember everyone; every MS price cut was due to a move Sony made, not the other way around.

 

Sony is going to drop the price regardless. Once it hit’s 299, they will only drop the price for reactionary reasons.
