This Drivatar thing is one of the most intriguing things about the cloud and next gen in general imho. It's not something that is completely new, even on PS2/Xbox we had NFL2k5 with the ability to download "ghosts" of other people and play their AI counterpart, but never has it been integrated like this. Should be interesting.
what? I found Forza's AI to be very poor, they always oversteer at later stages and hit each other, the AI is the dumbest in a racing game, second to grid that is, GRID AI is a joke, they don't even bother.

Lol calm down with the hyperbole. Gran Turismo and Forza AI could both use some improvements. Neither of them are "superb"
Yeah sales, take it from the Forza veteran. He should know loads about Forza AI. Just look at his post from earlier in this thread...

Well I've only played the Gran Turismo series. Never tried Forza so can't really argue with you cause I don't know what the AI is like lol.
From completely unaware, never played it before fledgling to Forza ultimate supreme master in just minutes. Bravo.
Forza does not have superb AI. I don't need to play it to know that. I never said the AI is horrible but him claiming that it is superior to every other AI (just like you did) is complete bullshit. Get over it.

Also the AI in Forza 5 doesn't look great either. I was watching Microsofts Forza E3 gameplay demo and the car just randomly crashed lmao. The cloud won't fix your AI issues.

33 minutes into the conference. I guess that car was being too "aggressive". As the guy said, they drive like people! Must be a woman steering the vehicle. If you believe this "cloud" technology will solve your issues with racing games AI then you're more delusional than I thought. I never said the AI in Forza sucks or is the worst AI in any racing game. I said all racing games have terrible AI and it's ridiculous to claim that Forza is a "superb" game when it comes to the AI. Cya
Also, now we are going to let the game handle the car for us? Lmao that seems like so much fun. Let the game earn credits for you as you're at work. Talk about difficulty.
OMFG, please... learning neural network my @ss. This whole MS Cloud business is so over the top b.s. it isn't even funny. There is NO WAY current (and forseeable future) internet bandwidth could support anything close to real-time or even near real-time CPU processing. This is nothing but shameless marketing to the clueless masses who are eating it up as some kind of belevolent SkyNet "learning" super Cloud.
So MS has improved their multiplayer server infrastructure. That's nice, good for them. I'm sure it's on par with Gaikai. Doesn't make either one of them some magical "learning neural network" that can offload AI logic and processing from the console. Wake the F up people.

Yes, that car was being aggressive. Have you ever actually watched a race? Feels silly even having to ask but your posts warrant the question. Do you believe that the singular, all in one line style we see in other racers (and again, even Forza sometimes) is reality? These days too many racers rely on simply overwhelming you with superior speed and handling rather than superior driving. This works great.. until you progress enough to get a superior machine. Then suddenly you are lapping the competition. This can change that. Forza already has the best AI in the genre, this can make it even better.
It's clear from your reply to sales that you are playing defense for GT in this thread. I don't know why, you're the only one who has brought that franchise up specifically. You admitted you have never played Forza, so please quit posting things about the franchise as if you have any shred of an idea of what you are talking about. It's adorable, but it is derailing the thread. And with that, I am done feeding the troll.
Just not believing the 600% part at all... sounds like hyperbole.
My biggest problem is how much will this make the AI better. Its actually surprising how bad many drivers are in racing games, so will it take say 20 drivers and say, ah they are going wide on this corner, lets make 1/10 AI cars on the grid do that. Wouldn't it be easier just to code some mechanics to gives cars certain traits. I wonder how useful much of the data they are collecting will be. Just record a few hundred players of different skill levels and get certain traits that you can apply. My issue is that its possibly a diminishing return, the more data you have, the more varied it is, the less helpful it is.
Going to be interesting to see how this plays out though.
