For money, of course. Resell the same movies on VHS, DVD, Laserdisc, Bluray and the new crap is just genius because people perhaps actually buy it.

What about HVD? That format can hold up to 3.9 TB @ 1 Gbit/s. And Sony and Panasonic are also involved in the development process. Did they just forget about that? Or are they bringing some sort of enhanced Blu-Ray to fill the gap until HVD is ready?

Oh, and by the way, I still use discs as well as 95 % of the population here in germany. I'm also looking forward to buy a PS5 with HVD drive. Discs are not dead, not even close.

Guys, discs are still being used. Perhaps you don't use it but here in my country at least they are quite common!

Discs of that size would be useful. Great for making hard drive back ups. Any thing you wanted stored long term is safer on a disc than any drive.

I am suing like 700gb of my HD. If I wanted to make a complete back up I'd need 78 DVD or so.

The movie industry is going to love this.

Well, it's not to replace Blu-ray or anything... it's just I don't see the point of focusing on optical discs... it's time to move on.
