Guys, discs are still being used. Perhaps you don't use it but here in my country at least they are quite common!

They are quite common everywhere still, I think.

Yeah they are quite common everywhere, there is people who still buy music via CD's! But there are people who think they are mostly irrelevant nowadays!

Anyway couldn't tihs be used on the PS 5?

Well, it's not to replace Blu-ray or anything... it's just I don't see the point of focusing on optical discs... it's time to move on.

I'm curious why you think it's time to move on?

I mean yeah digital is becoming more popular, but it's not even close to pushing optical discs out.  A full digital world, imo, is still a decade or two away.  We can't just stop focusing on discs all of a sudden.

Yes disc are use...but a 300 GB size? That's overkill for normal consumers.

Its better than using films and HDD/SSD for storing stock footage, that is for sure.

Unless games are more than 200 GB size then it's a waste of space.

Yeah I think even though consoles after this next gen are out will be more digital oriented(if there are more after that) that both MS and Sony coule use them if they need the space.  I don't foresee digital being the main distribution of content for 10 or 20 years.

Oh, the hypocrisy... : disks are outdated, but at the same time, screw the drm stuff. (I still have a different feeling when acquiring disks - for collecting purposes only)

Yeah it sounds like a lot of space for a game but who knows! Maybe the next gen will take twice as much space!
